Kelley Blue Book reports that buying a pickup truck of the prior model year has the potential to save you thousands versus purchasing a pickup from the current model year. According to Car and Driver, these sales are typically linked to discounts and special financing and rebates. To get the best deal possible while holiday shopping, Car and Driver suggests shopping Memorial Day weekend, the 4th of July, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Black Friday, or New Year’s Eve.

The worst time of year to buy a new pickup truck

According to Autolist, there are certain times of the year when you should avoid buying a new truck. Skip shopping at the beginning of the month, Autolist says, because dealerships have less incentive at the beginning of the month to reduce prices. “Similarly, don’t expect good deals on vehicles in high demand or when a newly designed model comes out. If you want one, plan to pay a premium price for it,” says Autolist.
