OK, so you love your luxury vehicle, but you’re ready to ditch tailpipe emissions and the visits to the gas station. No problem; the contemporary auto market can deliver your next silent and sublime ride. For instance, Kelley Blue Book (KBB) picked their favorite luxury electric cars for 2023, and they’ll have you cruising in comfort. Check out some of the best posh EVs for 2023, like the Porsche Taycan and the Mercedes-EQ EQE.

What are the best luxury electric cars of 2023?

While the best is open to interpretation, KBB says the following seven EVs are the best luxury electric cars of 2023:

  • Mercedes-EQ EQE
  • Mercedes-EQ EQS
  • Porsche Taycan
  • Genesis Electrified G80
  • BMW i7
  • Audi e-tron GT

The Mercedes-Benz EQE and EQS models top the list, each earning a 4.5 out of 5.0 from KBB. It’s not surprising either; with competitive single-charge ranges, the EQ models balance practicality with legacy Mercedes-Benz luxury.

Beyond the Mercedes-Benz models, the Porsche Taycan and Genesis Electrified G80 snag the No. 3 and 4 spots with comparable ranges and starting prices. The last few spots belong to the BMW i7, Audi E-Tron GT, and the venerable Tesla Model S. According to KBB, the luxury electric car segment is no longer a Tesla monopoly.

How much will the EQE cost?

The 2023 Mercedes-EQ EQE starts at around $76,050 for the entry-level 350+ trim. For that starting point, luxury electric car hunters get a 288-horsepower RWD EV with 305 miles of range. Moreover, the EQE will replenish 10 to 80% of its battery in just half an hour, according to TrueCar.

How many miles on one charge does the EQS get?

The 2023 Mercedes-EQ EQS 450+ gets around 350 miles on a single charge. However, upper-tier options trade range for snappy performance. For instance, the range-topping AMG EQS has a range of 277 miles.

How many miles can a Taycan go on a charge?

The Porsche Taycan’s range is limited compared to other luxury electric cars, like the 2023 Tesla Model S. Specifically, the Taycan tops out at 246 miles, compared to the Model S’ 405 miles. However, the Taycan snagged the No. 3 spot on the list, with a balance of Porsche good looks and driving feel.

With a maximum range of 282 miles, 365 horsepower, and one of the most clumsy names in the segment, the 2023 Genesis Electrified G80 is a top prospect for luxury EV shoppers. Moreover, the Genesis model’s 5-year basic warranty and 10-year battery warranty outlast many competitors.

Is the BMW i7 electric or hybrid?

The BMW i7 is a fully-electric luxury car with a trim-dependent range of up to 318 miles. However, the i7’s starting price of $120,295 and challenging aesthetic make it an acquired taste for many. That is, until occupants try out the cinema in the back seats.

How is the Audi E-Tron GT one of the best luxury electric cars of the year?

The 2023 Audi e-tron GT, like the BMW i7, is a pricey alternative to the Tesla Model S and other traditional luxury EVs. However, the e-tron GT’s neck-snapping acceleration and handsome fascia earn it a spot on the best luxury electric cars list.

Is Tesla Model S considered a luxury car?

The Tesla Model S isn’t just a luxury car; it’s quite possibly the original luxury electric car. Now, 11 years after the first model year, the Tesla EV is still a heavy hitter with a supercar-esque Plaid trim and distance-friendly Long Range model.
