Nothing can really compare to a large SUV when you need the extra space and towing capacity. The best full-size luxury SUVs from 2018 include Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi options. If any of these sport utility vehicles received awards from national safety groups, that is also noted below.

Finding the best full-size SUV was no issue for Edmunds, especially concerning the 2018 Lincoln Navigator. In fact, the experts called it one of the most versatile large SUVs on the market. It has seven seats and can tow up to 8,300 pounds. Plus, Lincoln offers the Navigator in an extended-length version for even more space. With all the seats folded, that works out to 103.3 cubic feet of space in the cargo area.

Some of Edmunds’ favorite safety features are Adaptive Cruise Control with Collision Mitigation and Surround-View Camera. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2018 Navigator a five-star safety rating. That makes this Lincoln one of the best full-size luxury SUVs for the year.

List Price Range: $51,000 – $72,295

Don’t forget the Mercedes-Benz GLS for the best full-size luxury SUVs

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class might look like your average SUV from the outside, but it has a lot going on inside. Edmunds notes the cabin is “tomb-silent” and filled with “rich leather and genuine wood trim.” Soft close doors and massaging front seats were options from the factory. Adults can fit in all three rows, making it feel bigger than it is. A turbocharger V6 is standard, but the AMG GLS 63’s twin-turbo V8 was also available.

Edmunds liked the Active Parking Assist and Active Blind-Spot Assist systems to make driving and parking easier. Mercedes’ Crosswind Stabilization feature also helps keep the SUV straight under windy conditions. Neither the NHTSA nor the IIHS gave it an award, but it still received a few good scores.

List Price Range: $35,799 – $73,621

The Audi Q7 is a good pick for a large sport utility vehicle

The 2018 Audi Q7 checked all the boxes, including new parking sensors, a rearview camera, and forward collision warning. If you can find a Quattro all-wheel drive version, this luxury midsize SUV is even more capable. Audi’s supercharged V6 engine is enough for most situations.

Some of the best safety features on the 2018 Q7 are Audi Side Assist and Audi Pre Sense Front. These systems help warn drivers of objects in blind spots and can help apply the brakes if a collision is imminent. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave the 2018 Audi Q7 a five-star safety rating.

List Price Range: $28,995 – $45,998

While there aren’t that many large SUVs on the market, these are some of the best full-size luxury SUVs that 2018 had to offer. Safety equipment is important in any size vehicle, but even more so when you have a whole soccer team in the back.
