The Mustang Mach-E did it again. MotorBiscuit has chosen the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E as the winner for our first Hybrid or Electric Vehicle of the Year Award. What makes this Ford EV one of the best electric or hybrid vehicles in 2021? The electric SUV is packed with safety features, thoughtful technology, and a driving range that suits most lifestyles. Ford left no stone unturned when crafting the Mustang Mach-E, and that is obvious when you first climb into the comfortable cabin.

No matter where you look, the Mustang Mach-E is quietly winning awards. It isn’t hard to figure out why, though. Ford took some risks with the newest electric vehicle, but those risks paid off. When our very own writer, Allison Barfield, had the chance to drive the Mach-E, she was impressed.

“The Mach-E provides luxurious and convenient features while being sporty and fun to drive. As the first Ford vehicle to be specifically designed as an electric vehicle without a gas-powered or hybrid model, it’s a hit.”

The Ford electric vehicle has a long list of standard safety features and tech, such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and dual-zone climate control. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and more are included. The electric SUV also has a 360-degree overhead camera and front-facing camera to ensure the driver can maneuver the vehicle as needed.

The Mustang name is familiar to drivers, which helps ease them into the process of switching to an electric vehicle. This may have contributed to the electric SUVs’ quick success. While most drivers might be in electric cars sometime in the near future, the electric Mustang is leading the way for now. No matter where you look, experts and regular drivers recognize that the Mach-E is worthy of praise.

Ford plans to ramp up production on the Mustang Mach-E electric vehicle next year

The all-wheel drive option drops that down to 270 miles. The Ford EV comes in four trim levels, including the Select, Premium, California Route 1, and GT trims. In fact, Ford hopes to more than double production of the Mach-E to produce around 70,000 next year alone. After that, the automaker hopes to double production again. Ford has also been working on giving the 2022 Mustang Mach-E a longer range, which will likely continue to improve with time. Pricing for the 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E starts at $43,895, and it is still eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit.

Ford has made a winner out of the Mustang Mach-E EV

In Ford’s November 2021 sales numbers, the data shows just how strong the Ford Mustang Mach-E has been selling. Ford sold 3,088 units in November alone, which semiconductor-related supply issues and pandemic-related slowdowns have mostly hampered. So far this year, 24,791 Mach-E’s have sold.

Ford has had a stellar year with vehicles like the Mustang Mach-E, Ford Bronco, and Ford Maverick constantly in the news. In fact, these vehicles have the fastest turn rates on dealership lots. The average is 12 days, which means Ford is focusing on getting buyers into new cars quickly.

Whatever the case may be, it is clear the 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E is a winner. With various trim levels and other options available, Ford has made a Mach-E for everyone. It is a fun and practical option with a long enough range to satisfy most daily drives. The best electric vehicle or hybrid vehicle of 2021 has been decided this year, but will the Mustang Mach-E be able to stand up to the competition again next year? That is to be determined, but it seems Ford has a good head start.

MotorBiscuit gives the Ford Mustang Mach-E an expert rating of 8.4 out of 10

As Ford’s first electric vehicle, the 2021 Mustang Mach-E had a lot to prove. However, it did just that during its first year on the market.

“This Mustang remains true to its sports car roots with impressive acceleration, responsive handling, and enhanced performance. It serves as a relaxing daily driver with an Unbridled driving mode that’s very engaging.”

Allison Barfield | MotorBiscuit

With a variety of trim levels and options to choose from, the electric SUV is suitable for a variety of needs. Congratulations to Ford for making such a compelling choice to win the first MotorBiscuit Hybrid or Electric Vehicle of the Year.
