Drivers have much to consider when deciding between the best cars, trucks, and SUVs to buy. Of course, many seek vehicles with the most advanced technology. However, it’s also necessary to consider the engine, as problems with the unit can cause expensive repair bills with auto mechanics. Luckily, several automakers have stellar reputations for the quality of their engines.

Many of the best cars to buy have well-built engines but there are exceptions

Everyone knows that the best cars to buy should be reliable. After all, no one wants to invest in a vehicle only to have it leave them stranded. The engine is perhaps among the most essential parts of a reliable vehicle. Sadly, many factors can cause notable engine issues. Sometimes, problems arise because it isn’t a well-built unit. Still, drivers neglecting the proper maintenance can cause issues.

Recently, GO Bank Rantes released a list of the automakers with the best engines. Of course, just because a car company made the list doesn’t mean every engine they offer is stellar.

Ford

The first automaker listed for having well-built engines is Ford. Of course, this makes sense, as the Blue Oval makes some of the best cars, trucks, and SUVs to buy. As many buyers know, Ford doesn’t always make the list of the most reliable automakers, but its issues aren’t often with the engines. Still, buyers should be iffy about the Ford Ecoboost engines. Many love them, but some auto mechanics have doubts about them.

One of the best Ford engines is the 5.0L Coyote V8. Despite some doubts, the 3.5L EcoBoost V6 also comes highly recommended.

Chevrolet

Chevrolet also makes some of the best cars to buy, which also means drivers can mostly trust its engines. Of course, General Motors is behind Chevrolet and its engines, which has been the case for some of the most iconic vehicles. Like Ford, some Chevy models have reliability issues, but it’s not typically because of bad engines. People looking for larger vehicles should consider the 5.3L EcoTec3 V8.

Lexus

People looking for the best cars and SUVs to buy with solid engines should consider Lexus. This is especially the case for those who want luxury cars. Lexus vehicles are reliable and often use Toyota engines, which is a recipe for a long-lasting unit. Most would agree that all the current Lexus/Toyota engines are well-built, which means buyers still need to do their research, but most options are safe.

Honda

Everyone knows that Honda makes some of the best cars, trucks, and SUVs to buy. There are a few exceptions, but it’s hard to go wrong when deciding to trust a Honda engine. In fact, this is a massive reason why the vehicles are so reliable. Naturally, this also means that Acura also offers some of the most well-built units. Some of the best are the K-Series and the J35. Still, Honda cars rarely leave people stranded.

Toyota

Toyota has already come up on this list but still deserves its own placement. When people consider the best cars to buy, Toyota always comes to mind. This is regardless of if they want a regular car or an SUV. As mentioned, these units are known for going the distance, which often means well over 200,000 miles.

Still, buyers should research any vehicle they’re considering buying. This is the case because even the best cars can have issues with some model years.
