Dodge has made many iconic cars over the years, and among the automaker’s best is the Challenger. Though some car enthusiasts might want to get their hands on a classic model year, the modern Challenger is no slouch. Arguably the biggest problem with the 2022 Dodge Challenger is choosing from among the various trims and models. Here, we narrow it down for you.

The best 2022 Dodge Challenger trim overall is the R/T Scat Pack

Best 2022 Dodge Challenger trim: R/T Scat Pack

Though Dodge offers plenty of Challenger models and options, the best all-around trim is the R/T Scat Pack. Like other great models, the R/T Scat Pack provides the best combination of features and specs that most consumers value, Edmunds reports. But it isn’t cheap. The R/T Scat Pack starts at just under $47,000, while the R/T Scat Pack Widebody variation starts at $53,000.

That said, Edmunds reports the R/T Scat Pack is the Dodge Challenger’s most popular trim. And it’s easy to see why. Of course, the main draw of a muscle car is the muscle, and the R/T Scat Pack packs plenty of it. Its 6.4-liter V8 harnesses 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. That powerful engine allows the Challenger to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.2 seconds and top out at 176 mph.

Plus, the R/T Scat Pack unlocks plenty of upgrades

Car and Driver reviewers agree with Edmunds and recommend the R/T Scat Pack. One of the other reasons this Dodge Challenger trim is the best is that it adds many comfort and performance features. For example, it boasts a high-performance suspension, upgraded engine cooling, a launch control system, and more.

Buyers can also add larger, 20-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, and adaptive dampers. Because the R/T Scat Pack trim hovers around $50,000, it also includes a lot of luxury features and options. For example, it has a heated steering wheel and heated front seats, and shoppers can also get the Plus Package, which upgrades the cabin materials.

As for infotainment, the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack comes with a bigger, 8.4-inch touchscreen display as standard equipment. It also has a premium six-speaker stereo system. That said, buyers pay extra for the Driver Convenience Group Package to get advanced safety features such as blind-spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert.

How the 2022 Dodge Challenger trims compare with one another

The standard 2022 Dodge Challenger trim is the SXT. This base model comes with a 3.6-liter V6 making 303 hp and 268 lb-ft of torque. Starting at $32,000, it’s a pretty bare-bones Challenger. The next trim level up, the GT, starts at $38,000. And though it doesn’t upgrade the muscle car’s engine, it adds a few features, including performance steering and performance brakes.

Going up another trim level, the R/T gets the same upgrades as the GT but adds a 5.7-liter V8. The bigger engine gets 372 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Starting at $40,000, the R/T sits just below the $47,000 R/T Scat Pack in the Challenger lineup.

Just above the R/T Scat Pack is the Hellcat. This beast packs a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 producing 717 hp and 656 lb-ft of torque. But all that power comes at a cost — starting at just under $67,000.
