Chevy makes some of the best trucks, SUVs, and cars in the world. One of the more underrated models is the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer. Overshadowed by the Blazer, Equinox, and even Traverse, many people forget about it. Buying this affordable little crossover is easy because there’s one trim level better than the rest. Experts agree the Trailblazer LT is the trim to buy, and most customers have done just that. Choosing the best 2022 Chevy Trailblazer trim is easy.
The best 2022 Chevy Trailblazer trim overall is the LT
Though Chevy offers four different Trailblazer options, the best all-around trim is the LT. Like other great models, the Trailblazer LT provides the best combination of features and specs that most consumers value at an excellent price. Moreover, the LT model is one step above the base model, starting at $25,145. Fortunately, that’s not much more than the LS base model, which costs $22,995.
According to Edmunds, the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer LT is the most popular trim with buyers. And it’s easy to see why. The main draw of the crossover is price, which is affordable even compared with other members of its class. However, the standard equipment with the two bottom trims isn’t bad either. For example, the LT model comes with heated front seats, a feature usually only found in much more expensive versions of crossovers.
Buying the LT trim unlocks many standard upgrades
First, front-wheel drive Trailblazers come with a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine. As a result, it produces 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. Alternatively, the all-wheel drive version gains a more robust 1.3-liter turbocharged three-cylinder that makes 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. Surprisingly, the base model doesn’t lack equipment either. For example, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, forward collision mitigation, lane keeping assist, and automatic high beams are standard.
However, upgrading to the best trim level, LT, gets you even more. Niceties like roof rails, LED foglights, heated mirrors, tinted rear windows, and proximity keyless entry are included. In addition, owners get push-button ignition, cruise control, remote ignition, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and heated front seats. With all of these upgrades over the base model, the roughly $3,000 price difference doesn’t seem like much.
How the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer trims compare with one another
If you’re interested in spending more than the price of an LT model, there are two other options. However, since things like the upgraded engine and AWD are optional across the entire lineup, we’re not sure there’s enough reason to upgrade. Moreover, the $27,020 Trailblazer Activ trim comes with the more powerful engine as standard.
In addition, it has tires and suspension tunings geared toward off-roading, skid plates, and a tow hitch receiver. Next, the Activ trim has unique styling, a two-tone roof, a simulated leather interior, a rear-seat center armrest, a leather steering wheel and shift knob, and a heated steering wheel. Finally, the RS model is the range-topper but starts at the same price as the Activ trim.
Only a few minor changes make the RS different from the Activ. They are 18-inch alloy wheels with standard tires and red interior accents. However, many optional packages are available for the Trailblazer. They’re the only way to get excellent features like a hands-free liftgate, panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charger, Bose audio, and much more.
It’s easy to choose the best Trailblazer trim
Finding the best version of the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer is easy. Experts at Edmunds and Car and Driver agree that the most popular version is the best option. With so much more value than the base model for a small price increase, the LT is the easy choice. However, those who want better performance can upgrade to the more powerful engine and all-wheel drive for extra.
