Begging the Ram Power Wagon to get a diesel engine might pay off

I have good news for Ram truck fans. Stellantis is listening to what drivers want. People want the Ram Power Wagon to gain a diesel engine option. The heavy-duty truck has engineers looking into making it happen.
The Ram Power Wagon could gain diesel power
Currently, the Ram Power Wagon lags behind its heavy-duty off-roading rivals from Ford and General Motors because it doesn’t offer a diesel engine.
The Ram Heavy-Duty truck only has a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine with 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. However, other Ram trucks in the lineup can be paired with the Cummins diesel 6.7-liter straight-six engine.
Drivers want that engine to be offered in the Power Wagon. However, the gas engine avoids the intercooler that’s on its siblings because the Power Wagon needs a winch. According to Car and Driver, the intercooler interferes with the winch.
A Ram engineer confirmed that the team is looking into the issue to provide a solution. If the opportunity is there, thenthey can engineer it. However, don’t expect the 2025 Ram Power Wagon to gain diesel power.
Engineers didn’t provide a timeline for this project. It’s being considered as the team is seeing if they can do it. They didn’t say that they would do it.
In my humble opinion, most drivers might be willing to sacrifice a front winch in exchange for diesel power. Why not offer the gas-powered model with the winch and a diesel model without it?
I need to hunt a Ram spokesperson down and ask why the winch is so important. I’ve had professional winch training with Land Rover, and they’re great for getting out of messy situations and moving debris.
The benefits of having a winch are clear, but so are the benefits of having a diesel engine.
