Beverly Hills Car Club has a 1996 Mercedes-Benz S600 coupe that formerly belonged to Michael Jordan, the Michael Jordan, for sale. It is not just any S600 either. This Mercedes is a rare one equipped with a Lorinser package. Lorinser is a specialty performance company that specializes in Mercedes. It provides performance products, engine tuning, and exterior syling cues. For this particular unit, it looks like the car received a lowering treatment, with larger wheels, and possibly a custom exhaust.

Even before Lorinser’s touch, the Mercedes-Benz S600 coupe was already a pretty stout performer. It came equipped with a 6.0-liter, V12 engine mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. It could pump out 400 horsepower. That was a lot in its day. That is because the S600 was the top of the line in the Mercedes catalog.

The Mercedes was most recently seen on, The Last Dance

This Mercedes-Benz was most recently seen on “The Last Dance”. The Netflix, a 10 episode, docuseries chronicled Michael Jordan’s career beginning prior to his entry into the NBA and all the way to his last championship. That series also covered his sneaker deal, the Olympics, and the movie deal he had.

Michael Jordan had 15 seasons with the NBA and won six championships. In that time he helped raise the awareness of the NBA and the Olympics. He made it to the cover of Sports Illustrated numerous times. The Associated Press voted him to be the greatest basketball player of the 20th century.

The Holy Grail of Michael Jordan memorabilia

“Some people have signed basketballs or sneakers or photographs of the basketball giant. But how many people do you know who own Michael Jordans car? This is the Holy Grail of Michael Jordan memorabilia.” – Alex Manos, Owner of the Beverly Hills Car Club

In the listing on his website, Mr. Manos indicates that he has the title with Mr. Jordan’s, and his ex-wife’s signature. So, that goes a long way in verifying the authenticity of the provenance of the car. So does that fact that the car phone still comes up with Mr. Jordan’s name when powered up.

This 1996 Mercedes-Benz S600 coupe is metallic navy deep blue in color over a gray interior. It has a clean Carfax, and comes with all the goodies you would expect of a top-of-the-line Mercedes from that era. These include airconditioning, heated seats, cruise control, power sunroof, and power windows, mirrors, and locks.

Mr. Manos has set up an Ebay listing for the car that is active now. The online listing is set to expire on Sunday, August 23rd. Bidding will probably pick up in intensity through the last few hours. The opening bid was $23 at noon. The highest bid as of the time of this writing is $30,500. The reserve has not been met. This is the perfect opportunity for anyone that wants to be like Mike.

UPDATE: 8/24/2020 – The car sold yesterday for $202,200.
