Avoid The Toyota C-HR For The Honda HR-V Instead

The Toyota C-HR and the Honda HR-V are two little SUVs that are so similar that they both have ‘HR’ in their names. However, one vehicle has to be better than the other, so let’s compare the Toyota C-HR and Honda HR-V to determine which option is best.  The Toyota C-HR VS. The Honda HR-V  …

The Toyota C-HR VS. The Honda HR-V

Both of these options are very price friendly. The Toyota C-HR starts around $21k while the Honda HR-V starts around $20k.

These prices come with a pretty good fuel economy as well. The Toyota C-HR gets an average of up to 27 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

The Honda HR-V does a little better with an average of 28 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway.

Honda HR-V and Toyota C-HR Power

The Honda HR-V is equipped with a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out 141 horsepower and 127 lb-ft of torque. It can tow around 1,000 lb but doesn’t have much power.

It also takes the Honda HR-V nearly 9.6 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph. Don’t expect to be flying around the city in this option.

The Toyota C-HR has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out 144 horsepower and 139 lb-ft of torque. Also, to our surprise, the Toyota C-HR can tow up to 1,500 lb.

But the C-HR is a bit slower than the HR-V. It takes 10.1 seconds for the C-HR to go from 0 to 60 mph.

However, the one major factor that makes the Honda HR-V the better choice over the Toyota C-HR is the fact that it’s available in all-wheel drive.

The Toyota C-HR is only available in front-wheel drive, making it less capable of driving in snow and other adverse weather conditions.

The Honda HR-V also has a ground clearance around 7” while the CR-V sits closer to the ground around 5”.

Honda HR-V And Toyota C-HR Features

In terms of cargo space, the Honda HR-V takes the cake. It has 24 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat and up to 55.9 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats folded down.

The Toyota C-HR only has 19.1 cubic feet of cargo space in the trunk and 37 cubic feet of cargo space total.

Both of these little SUVs have modern tech with infotainment centers that can connect to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Toyota’s infotainment center pops up out of the dash, while the HR-V’s infotainment center is down in the dash.

Also, both of these cars are pretty safe. They have modern features, including forward collision prevention and lane assistance technology.

However, the Honda HR-V is award-winning. It’s rated as one of the best SUVs for 2019 and as the best vehicle for teens in 2019.

The Honda HR-V is the clear winner over the Toyota C-HR. Not only is the Honda HR-V lower prices, but it’s safer, has much more capability, is a little smart, and has a peppier acceleration.
