The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a hazmat fire at an Audi dealership in Santa Clarita on Wednesday night. An electric vehicle is suspected of causing the fire.
KTLA 5 reported flames coming from the dealership’s service area. Fire officials confirmed that they received calls about the fire at Audi Valencia before 6:30 p.m.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the fire was coming from an electric vehicle loaded with lithium-ion batteries. Such fire incidents can be challenging to extinguish, as they release toxic gases and often take a long time to be fully controlled.
This likely caused the hazmat response. The fire crew was able to extinguish the fire, but the extent of damage at the dealership is not yet known. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fortunately, the county fire department’s quick intervention brought the fire under control before it spread to other areas of the dealership.
Fire Incidents Can Lead to Structural Collapse
MotorBiscuit recently reported a major fire incident from Atlanta, Georgia, where a vehicle fire in an apartment complex’s multi-level parking garage spread rapidly to other cars, eventually leading to a partial structural collapse.
DeKalb County Fire Rescue stated that the incident occurred on March 20, at a Brookhaven apartment complex on Friday night. By the time the firefighters arrived, a vehicle had been burning on the third floor, which quickly spread to other nearby cars.
Several vehicles burned, which caused the temperature to shoot up on the third floor and made it extremely challenging for the firefighters to douse the flames.
The heat was so intense that officials suspected that it could affect the building’s structure, making it too dangerous for the fire crews to control the fire.
Later, what was feared materialized. Fire officials confirmed that the extreme temperatures caused by multiple cars on fire had led to a partial structural collapse of the building as they tried to contain the blaze.
Eventually, once the fire was extinguished, officials revealed that none of the firefighters were injured despite the multiple dangers involved in the operation. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this point and is being investigated.
