Whether you love them or not, there is a spot in everyone’s heart for a classic American muscle car. Year after year, generation after generation, American manufacturers have been tweaking, updating and improving their muscle cars to offer more style, more power, and more performance. Here’s our 2020 lineup of the beefiest American muscle cars of this year.
2020 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1
The new ZL1 features the most aggressive styling yet and brings all of the power and performance you’d expect from an American muscle car in 2020. The supercharged 6.2L V8 motor offers 650hp stock and puts down 650lb-ft of torque and continues to impress us on the track and on the streets.
2020 Ford Mustang GT500
The new Mustang GT500 offers the classic styling of the Mustang brand with the power to dominate the street. The iconic mustang front end headlights pair with updates to the car’s aerodynamics and aggressive styling to ensure everyone on the streets knows exactly what it is upon first glance, and second and third.
Previous generations of GT have set the stage for power and performance that doesn’t disappoint, and the newest model steps up to the plate. The supercharged 5.2L V8 motor puts the car at an astonishing 760hp, delivered by 625lb-ft of torque.
2020 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat
The Charger Hellcat is the only four-door sports car that made this list today, but don’t let it’s extra space deceive you. This piece of American Muscle dominates on the streets, with qualities that make it both practical and impressive. Under the hood, you will find a 6.2L V8, but within a few minutes behind the wheel, you can feel that car’s 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, and it might be enough to forget you’re driving a sports-sedan.
2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye
Too many car enthusiasts, the Hellcat is an icon among American muscle cars. There aren’t any real changes to the Challenger’s looks, it’s classic styling might give it the upper hand. The Hellcat Redeye matches the Charger with a 6.2L V8 with 797hp and great straight-away performance. Like older models, the Challenger is one of the heaviest cars on this list, and while it has the power to offer, it’s cornering capabilities aren’t the best. Pushing almost 800hp, I think that’s a sacrifice we are willing to make.
2020 Chevrolet Corvette C8
The long-awaited mid-engine Corvette finally made a debut this year – and we are not disappointed. While the C8 generation ditches many of the classical stylings of previous years, the aggressive design and beautiful aerodynamics set the stage for what we can expect from a new generation of Corvette. The C8 features a 6.2L V8 offering 495hp, and with 470lb-ft of torque, we are excited to see this car hit the streets and the track. There is no doubt that the Corvette C8 is a true American muscle car.
Whether you prefer traditional styling or tasteful changes, the 2020 lineup of domestic sports cars doesn’t leave us wanting more. We wanted performance, power, and presentation, and these manufacturers delivered. Would you find yourself ready to flex any of these new-age American muscle cars?
