It’s official, drivers have spoken. They are tired of cars having too much tech with frustrating software. Things like connectivity issues and problems with Apple CarPlay are too distracting. Also, the pickup truck with the most complaints about tech is the Ram 1500.

The Ram 1500 is the full-size truck with the most tech complaints

According to J.D.Power, the Ram 1500 is the full-size pickup truck with the most complaints related to tech and software.

J.D.Power sent out surveys to thousands of drivers to determine the biggest issues. The survey has 184 specific problem areas across nine important vehicle categories.

The categories include climate, driving assistance, drive experience, exterior, features, controls, displays, infotainment, interior, powertrain, and seats. The data is analyzed into problems per 100 vehicles.

A lower score means fewer vehicle complaints. Ram has the highest amount of complaints per 100 vehicles compared to other full-size truck brands. It has a score of 242. Toyota is the truck brand with the fewest problems with a score of 161.

Overall, Lexus is the automotive brand with the least amount of complaints with 140. Volkswagen has the most complaints with a score of 285.

This year, the study found a 16% increase in complaints related to software defects. Most of the problems are related to smartphone integrations, usage, or connectivity.

Plus, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have the most reported problems. But Bluetooth and Wi-Fi also have tons of complaints among drivers.

While reviewing the Ram 1500 and Heavy Duty trucks, I didn’t have any issues. But I did find it much easier to use the tech in the 2025 Toyota Tacoma, recently.
