The most dependable SUVs for 2023 from Lexus and Toyota

On the J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, Toyota and Lexus earned many awards for reliability. The most reliable models in the study were the Toyota C-HR and the Lexus RX, with 111 PP100, or problems per 100 vehicles. Both SUVs have improved scores over the last year in eight out of nine problem categories.

Other vehicles from Toyota and Lexus that landed on the list of most dependable SUVs for 2023 include the Lexus NX and the Toyota Highlander. The Lexus NX is a more compact option that earned high marks from drivers, noting few issues in the first few years of ownership. It is also no surprise the Lexus RX was at the top of the list, as it is one of America’s favorite SUVs.

The Toyota Highlander has a long history of reliability and dependability, repeatedly landing on the list of longest-lasting SUVs. Owners of this midsize SUV report fewer problems with the infotainment system and technology, which is one of the most significant factors impacting scores.

The Toyota Tacoma also made the most dependable list for 2023

While there were not many trucks on the most dependable list for 2023, the Toyota Tacoma impressed drivers and experts. This compact truck has long been a driver favorite due to its powerful but dependable engine. The Tacoma beat the Chevrolet Colorado for the most dependable midsize pickup truck.

Toyota’s Tundra truck is listed as a large light-duty pickup truck but came second to the highest-ranked GMC Sierra. Even though it only came in second place, the Tundra still had fewer problems than other vehicles in the category. These Toyota trucks have proven to be good long-term investments, thanks to the high resale value and potential to last 200,000 miles or more.

Following trucks, the Toyota Sienna minivan landed at the top of the most dependable list for 2023. Like the other options, the Sienna proved to have fewer problems in the first few years of ownership. The Sienna is spacious and has some of the best safety systems, thanks to the Toyota Safety Sense suite driver-assistance features.
