The new EV6 offers up to 310 miles of estimated range and can add a significant charge in a short period of time depending on the charger. While those are cool features and add to the practicality of this EV crossover, there is a hidden feature that does add some quirkiness.

In order to access the charging port, there isn’t a button or lever to pull. The driver simply uses a touch-activated area in order to open the charge port door. Once access is granted, charging levels are shown through an interesting lighting design, that simply looks cool.

One drawback of this, as noted by Consumer Reports, is how well this system will work in cold weather. Vehicles like Teslas have had issues with winter operation because these components can quickly freeze over. And, their motors are not strong enough to break the ice. So time will tell if this becomes impractical for winter driving.
