A Concerned Minnesota Citizen’s Call Leads to Heartbreaking Discovery Inside Damaged Toyota

An alert citizen called the Brecksville Police after a gold Toyota Camry hit a guardrail in Richfield, Minnesota. The driver, a grandfather on his way to pick up his grandchild, was stopped by police, who noticed the slur in his speech and could smell marijuana.

A passerby notified the police when the Camry was swerving with a damaged front, traveling northbound on I-77, and exited the highway on Royalton Road. An officer then located the Camry in front of the former Central School.

Engaging with the driver, the police officer noticed slurred speech. He explained he was on his way to pick up his other grandson from a Cleveland school. The driver then accidentally pressed the accelerator when he tried to look for his driver’s license.

The officer sensed something was amiss, especially since he smelled marijuana from the car. Thus, a sobriety test was conducted, which the driver failed. Not only that, but his license had been suspended, and he had an active warrant.

A quick search in the car led police to the marijuana pipe and an empty liquor bottle. Thus, the grandfather was arrested for impaired driving, driving with a suspended license, endangering children, and not having a booster seat in the back. As for the child, a family member was asked to pick him up since the grandfather wasn’t available.

Another case involving an intoxicated grandfather occurred in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. MotorBiscuit reported how a fast ride to a hospital in a private ambulance ended fatally for a baby girl, while her mother battles for life.

The intoxicated grandfather of the baby girl was driving the ambulance through red lights and intersections at high speed without flashing the emergency lights or the siren.

At the intersection of Torresdale and Harbison avenues, a serious crash occurred that caused the mother and the baby to be ejected from the ambulance through the windshield.

Unfortunately, the baby girl was declared dead at the hospital while the mother was admitted, and remains in critical condition. A local neighbor told CBS News that there are frequent accidents in that area:

“It’s sad because there’s always a lot of accidents in this area. And to hear that a little baby passed away, that’s sad. ‘Cause from where I live at, I heard a, you know, a loud thump, but I didn’t think nothing of it. Then I turned the news on a little later on and seen it on the news, so I decided to walk up here and see this.”
