Timing may not always be the biggest factor for the typical GMC Sierra 1500 buyer. Given the nature of the work truck and the fleet sales, these pickup trucks can often sell in large quantities. However, for the remainder of April, the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 will be reduced by a whopping $7,650.

Now is the time to get the best deal on a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500

GM Authority reports that GMC is offering a huge discount on the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 through April. The discount knocks up to $7,650 off of select models during April 2021. For a pickup truck that starts at $30k, a discount of $7,650 is a massive saving.

There are more models available for this discount than just the base. For the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500, discounts also Include a $2,000 package discount on the turbocharged 2.7-liter in-line four and the 4.3-liter V6 engines only.

If you are jonesing for a 2021 model GMC Sierra 1500, there are also a few heavily discounted options. GM Authority mentions that certain 2021 models will include a cash allowance of up to $7,000. There is also the $2,000 package discount on the turbocharged 2.7-liter in-line four and 4.3-liter V6 engines only.

Lastly, there is a slightly smaller but still significant discount on the 2021 Sierra 1500 Crew Cab. For this model, Sierra GMC is offering a cash allowance of $5,750. It’s not as serious as the others, but I don’t know many people who don’t want to save almost $6k on buying a new truck.

Is the 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 a good truck?

Even without the current deals for April 2021, the 2020 GMC Sierra is a solid pickup truck despite the brutal Consumer Reports review. Consumer Reports basically hated it. Still, it got a 4 / 5 in owner satisfaction polls. People like their Sierras, and it makes sense.

There are plenty of really fancy trucks out there, but the GMC Sierra, while still plenty nice, still has its gaze fixed on being a hard-working pickup truck. Consumer Reports throttled it because it had some reliability issues over the years leading to a bad predicted reliability score. In the world of CR reviews, this is an automatic killer.

The 2020 GMC Sierra comes in a wide variety of engine options and cab layouts. In essence, the GMC Sierra is basically a Chevy Silverado. The version that CR tested was the 5.3-liter V8 crew-cab model. It returned a decent 17 mpg combined even with the 4×4 option. This isn’t killer mileage, but for a 4×4 V8, it’s not bad.

Overall these are hard-working, strong pickup trucks that tend to make their owners happy. Take those facts plus a discount, and there seems to be a pretty clear choice if you need a new pickup this month.

Beware the fine print

As GM Authority points out, to take advantage of this heavy discount, buyers must take ownership of their GMC Sierra 1500 by May 3, 2021, to be eligible. This incentive only applies to U.S. GMC dealers unless otherwise specified.

As always, with things like this, make sure to talk to a local dealer to make sure you understand the details, as things like this can vary from dealer to dealer. All that being said, if you were thinking about buying a GMC pickup, now might be the right time to snag the best deal on a new pickup truck.
