Recall alert: Over 720,000 Honda SUVs and cars could erupt in flames

Honda SUVs and cars are under a massive recall due to a dangerous fire risk. It’s best to park outside away from structures if you drive a:

  • 2023 – 2025 Honda Accord
  • 2023 – 2024 Honda Accord Hybrid
  • 2025 Honda Civic
  • 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid
  • 2023 – 2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid

According to the National Traffic Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA), these Honda vehicles may have been equipped with a faulty fuel pump.

The defective high-pressure fuel pump may crack and cause a fuel leak, increasing the risk of fire. It also increases the risk of accidents and injuries.

Honda shared that the fuel pumps are from a tier two supplier, Hitachi Astemo LId in Japan. The issue extends from a cutting tool for machined chips that had excessive thrust load and torque input.

This means that the pumps were cranked too hard during the manufacturing process, leading to the cracks. You may notice that your fuel pump is leaking if you smell fuel while driving or while the vehicle is idle.

If your Honda model is at risk you may have already been notified. You can contact Honda Customer Service at 1-888-243-2135 or the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 with any questions you may have.

You can also enter your 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (V.I.N) on the NHTSA site to see if your vehicle is at risk.

If you own one of these Honda SUVs or cars you will need to visit a local dealership for service. Technicians will replace the fuel pump at no charge to owners. Stay tuned for more information.
