Ford Performance introduced a 700 horsepower supercharger upgrade for the 2021 F-150 at SEMA 2021. Ford Authority got to look at the supercharger kit and speak with Ford Performance’s product manager, Mike Goodwin. The Ford F-150’s popularity stems from not only its versatility and capability but its ability to be modded, kitted, and customized by owners. Many SEMA 2021 exhibits featuring the F-150 pale compared to the possibility of customers getting their hands on this kit.

What is Ford Performance’s Ford F-150 supercharger kit?

Ford Performance’s supercharger kit is an upgrade to the 5.0-liter Coyote V8. Thanks to the engine’s cylinder-deactivation feature, Ford needed to develop a new supercharger kit. When equipped, it produces 700 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. That helps the F-150 travel from 0 to 60 in less than five seconds.

That’s a similar amount of power to a well-known Ford competitor’s fastest truck. The Ram 1500 TRX is capable of producing up to 702 horsepower with its 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8. It’s been called the fastest mass-produced truck globally and can go 0-60 in under five seconds. Ram’s off-road truck can reach 60 mph from a dead stop in just 4.5 seconds, but CarAndDriver says its testing had it make the run in just 3.7 seconds.

How can you buy the 700 horsepower F-150 upgrade?

Ford Performance has not announced the price of its 2021 Ford F-150 Coyote supercharger kit. The 2020 version of the same kit sells for $7,500, and getting Ford to install it adds $2,000-$3,000. Prices will likely be the same or similar, but on the higher end for the new kit.

That’s right; it is that easy. Online or in the dealer, you can purchase one of these kits from Ford directly. The automaker will take anywhere from 10-12 hours for its technicians to install the kit for you. Hence the high price, but you’ll want to ensure proper installation and get the warranty. There’s no news on whether or not this kit will work with 2022 F-150 models.

Does the supercharger kit come with a warranty?

The kit comes with a 3-year, 30,000-mile warranty if a Ford dealer installs it. Though the kit uses a Whipple supercharger, it is not a Whipple supercharger kit. It is Ford Performance’s kit using the Whipple supercharger, meaning the warranty is for the supercharger only. Don’t worry; Ford did plenty of testing to ensure it could afford to give out warranties on this kit.

It passed Ford’s durability and validation testing, which is the equivalent of putting 100,000 miles on a new engine. The supercharger kit comes with the supercharger itself, an intercooler, an air inlet, and additional hardware. It does not include an intake and exhaust. According to Ford Authority, Ford Performance will begin taking orders before the end of the year.

This supercharger kit upgrade for the 2021 Ford F-150 Coyote V8 engine is just one of many fantastic truck-related items from SEMA 2021. Ford was just one of many to show off its uniquely designed vehicles. Many of the designs ranged from off-road beasts to pickups turned campers. Though no matter how excellent the plans might be, a 700 horsepower engine is always capable of stealing the spotlight.
