You might think the biggest SUVs in the market pull the most weight, but that’s not the case. The Chevrolet full-size SUV pair squeaked onto the list with tow ratings of 8,400 pounds for the Tahoe and 8,300 pounds for the Suburban. To achieve this tow rating, the SUV must have a 5.3-liter V8 engine, a 2WD configuration, and the Max Trailering Package.

These two large SUVs share a powertrain, which gives them identical towing capabilities. Both use a strong 5.6-liter V8 engine that pushes out 400 horsepower. This setup allows you to enjoy towing up to 8,500 pounds. Thankfully, this number is the same whether you have a 2WD or 4WD version of either SUV. The only question you’ll need to answer is whether to go with the luxurious Infiniti SUV or the mainstream Nissan version.

This model needs the Tow N Go Package to give you this capability, but it’s certainly worth it. If you don’t want the SRT 392 model, the R/T is also capable of pulling the same weight.

The 4WD version only loses 100 pounds of capability, which is pretty good. The Expedition Max can tow up to 9,000 pounds with either configuration. All models of the Ford Expedition use a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine to produce 380 horsepower and give you the strength needed to pull a heavy load.

According to Cars.com, the Grand Wagoneer reaches 9,850 pounds of towing power using the larger 6.4-liter V8 engine. The upcoming 2023 models of this Jeep should tow as much and will have smaller engines, making them more efficient.
