Titan? What is the Nissan Titan? Do you know this truck? If not, don’t worry; it’s not worth your time and energy to get to know the 2022 Nissan Titan. The Titan sells the worst among full-size pickups, has the fewest options, and is the most unremarkable in the class. Granted, there are only five other full-size trucks right now, but that means the Titan should stand out, and it doesn’t.

1. One engine isn’t enough to make the 2022 Nissan Titan pickup a good option

The Titan boasts the most power at the base level in the full-size truck world. With a 5.6-liter V8 engine pumping out 400 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque, the base trim is powerful. Unfortunately, as you move up through the trims, you won’t find more power options to meet your needs.

2. Towing is limited in this Nissan truck

The 2022 Nissan Titan pickup tows up to 9,320 pounds. Is that enough for you? If you depend on your truck to get a lot of work done every day, you’ll want more. The Ford F-150 provides up to 14,000 pounds of towing to be the best in the class. All other trucks offer higher tow ratings than the Titan, which is reason enough to turn your back on the Nissan pickup.

3. Reduced headroom in the cabin

Why does it feel like the roof of the Titan is right on top of you? The panoramic moonroof reduces the headroom, making the cabin feel more cramped. Sure, the glass roof gives you an airy feeling, but it’s still too close to your head.

4. The 2022 Nissan Titan pickup has pedestrian fuel economy

The best fuel mileage rating in this Nissan truck is 16 city/21 hwy mpg. It doesn’t get better because there aren’t any additional engine options. You’ll find better numbers with every other truck in the market. For example, the Toyota Tundra brings 18 city/24 hwy mpg with the base engine or 20 city/24 hwy mpg with the hybrid powertrain.

5. The Titan falls short in the payload comparison as well

The most the 2022 Nissan Titan pickup can carry is 1,710 pounds. That might sound like plenty of strength, but you could push it too far, especially when you have a full work crew with you. The Ram 1500 can carry up to 2,325 pounds, which gives you a lot more flexibility to load up this truck with everything you need to take along for the workday.

6. The Nissan Titan starting price is too high

The base price for the Titan pickup truck is $38,010, which doesn’t sound too bad for a truck. Almost all other half-ton trucks start at a lower price. You can buy a base version of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for $33,800. That’s a savings of more than $4,000, making a huge difference in your budget.

Is Nissan discontinuing the Titan?

Don’t expect the Nissan Titan to get any better. This pickup truck is being discontinued and will not venture into a third generation. Considering the Titan is the worst-selling full-size pickup truck in the market, this news shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Do Nissan Titans hold their value?

The average depreciation for the Titan reaches 45.9% after five years. This result tells you this truck doesn’t hold its value well. If you buy the 2022 Nissan Titan pickup, you should plan to keep it for a long time. Selling this truck in the used truck market won’t give you a good return on your investment.

Avoid this full-size Nissan truck

U. S. News and World Report has the 2022 Nissan Titan rated lowest in the full-size pickup truck class. If you want to buy a truck, every other truck is a better option for you.
