They can knock us down, but we’ll always get back up! This had to be what some automakers have said for the past few years. From the COVID-19 pandemic to the supply-chain shortage, automotive development has taken some hits, but it keeps coming back. Several hot new electric cars are heading to the market over the next couple of years. Here are six EVs that Consumer Reports says are hot and worthy of our attention.

1. The Cadillac Lyriq sits at the top of the new electric cars coming our way

Isn’t it about time Cadillac tossed its proverbial hat in the EV ring? The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq is on the way, and it brings sharp styling with next-generation technology. This new electric SUV might replace the XT6 when Cadillac finally deletes all of its gas-powered vehicles. The Lyriq features a curved 33-inch LED display that stretches across the instrument panel. Initial statistics show a 340-horsepower RWD model that delivers 312 miles of driving range with a 500-horsepower model on the way.

2. A new DeLorean Alpha5 brings this classic name back to the market

DeLorean is best known for the DMC-12, which was turned into the time machine in the “Back to the Future” movie trilogy. This brand has been reborn and arrives with the Alpha5 electric car that Consumer Reports considers one of the hot new models on the way. The Alpha5 brings a modern, futuristic build that looks much different from the DMC-12. This car should be a low-volume model sitting in the luxury market. We’ll get a better look at this new EV in the latter part of 2024.

3. The new electric cars coming include the Fisker Ocean

When the Fisker name appears, we don’t think of affordable vehicles, but this new electric SUV could fit into the affordable range with a proposed base price of $37,499. The Fisker Ocean is an EV with an optional solar roof, a 17-inch center touchscreen that rotates, and the “California mode.” This mode lowers all the windows and retracts the roof to give this SUV an open-air feeling.

4. Honda brings its first EV in the form of the Prologue

One of the new electric cars hitting the market is the Honda Prologue which will arrive in 2024. Consumer Reports has this model on its list of hot new models and Honda’s first entry into the EV market. The Prologue has been developed in conjunction with GM and will use the Ultium batteries found under the GM EV models. Sony also has a hand in this new electric SUV, making this one of the electric vehicles we should watch and follow until it hits the market.

5. Consumer Reports tells us to pay attention to the Jeep Recon

The first all-electric Jeep to reach the United States will be the Recon. This high-riding electric SUV is meant to compete on some of the toughest trails. It might not carry the same off-road dominance as the Wrangler. Still, it offers electric axle locking for better traction, driver-selectable modes for different terrain, and plenty of underbody protection. This new Jeep Recon should go on sale in 2024.

6. The Tesla Roaster is one of the most dynamic new electric cars heading our way

You don’t have to pay attention to Consumer Reports to know that you should watch the Tesla Roadster and admire what it brings. Currently, this amazing performance machine is set to go on sale in 2024, but that could change. The Roadster brings classic sports car lines in a high-tech EV package. This car hits 60 mph in 1.9 seconds, and it brings 620 miles of driving range. We’re sure to keep a close eye on this amazing high-performance EV.
