The entire automotive world is going electric. We already see some electric SUVs offered, but with more research, development, and advancement of technology, the future electric SUVs should be even better. Here are six new models expected to arrive in the next five years.

Acura ZDX

The DX part of the Acura name signifies crossovers, and the new Acura ZDX is an electrified crossover that should arrive in 2024. So far, we don’t have many details about this new electric SUV aside from the fact that it will be based on the upcoming Honda Prologue. The Prologue uses some electric architecture from GM, and the ZDX brings a name you might recognize from an old design. We anticipate this new Acura will be a bit more conventional than the old Coupe-SUV model.

Buick Electra

We’ve been waiting for Buick to enter the EV market, and 2024 is the time that should take place. The new Buick Electra lineup will also use a numbering system with E1 through E9 as potential Buick models. The first to arrive should be the Electra E5, a future electric SUV that shares a platform with the current Cadillac Lyriq. This should offer the Buick a driving range between 300 and 340 miles, and the upscale premium qualities we expect from the brand.

Chevrolet Blazer EV

The future electric Chevy Blazer EV arrives this summer to be one of GM’s first new electric cars. This new electric Blazer will offer an SS trim that delivers 557 horsepower and impressive acceleration. We should also see up to 320 miles of driving range from this EV in the long-range RS model. The base-level 1LT trim joins the lineup in 2024, giving us a full range of Chevrolet electric SUVs with the Blazer name.

Chrysler Airflow Concept

If you thought the Chrysler name was dead, think again. The new Airflow concept could bring this name back to life and give us something more than the Pacifica minivan. The new Airflow should arrive in 2025 with a 400-mile driving range and Level 3 autonomous driving capability. This will be Chrysler’s first EV, which will offer a full line of new electric cars by 2028.

Fisker Ocean

This future electric SUV is already on sale but hasn’t caught on yet. The Fisker Ocean is an affordable EV with a starting price of $39,000 but a low driving range of only 250 miles on a single charge. The Ocean was officially revealed at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November and can be had with a dual-motor layout that delivers up to 350 miles of driving range and AWD.

Ford Explorer EV

Sometime later in 2023, we should see a new electric Ford Explorer EV that joins the Mustang Mach-E. This new electrified Explorer should use similar powertrain elements as the Mustang Mach-E and bring us an EV that is a fitting addition to the Explorer lineup of adventurous SUVs.
