The Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack is a muscle car with vast reserves of power and a tendency to destroy all tires. The sweetheart sports coupe is fast, loud, a full of pantomime. However, you don’t have to go with the Mopar muscle car if you want speed and fun. Instead, check out one of these five Challenger Scat Pack alternatives for under $50,000, like the Chevrolet Camaro 1SS or Toyota GR Supra.

  • Chevrolet Camaro 1SS
  • Toyota GR Supra 3.0
  • Nissan Z Performance
  • Ford Mustang GT
  • BMW M240i

Is the Chevrolet Camaro 1SS a good Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack alternative?

The 2022 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS is a fast, versatile alternative to the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack. Better yet, the 1SS starts at around $40,995. While the Camaro packs 30 fewer ponies than the 485-horsepower Scat Pack, the lighter Chevy muscle car is quicker. Using its 455-horsepower 6.2L V8, TopSpeed says a 2022 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS can hit 60 mph in around 3.9 seconds.

Moreover, if you want a more plush Chevy muscle coupe or convertible, the 2SS still starts below the $50,000 threshold with the same 6.2L V8 powerplant. There is no shortage of cheaper, faster Camaro alternatives to the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack.

How much does a Toyota GR Supra 3.0 cost?

The 2022 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 starts at $52,985 and packs a 382-horsepower turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine. While that doesn’t seem like much compared to the Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack’s 485-horsepower 6.4L V8 mill, the Supra still manages to outrun the Mopar muscle car. Specifically, the 2022 Supra 3.0 can hit 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. That’s blisteringly quick and fast enough to be an alternative to not just the Challenger Scat Pack but also a Ford Mustang Mach 1

How much will the Nissan Z Performance cost?

The upcoming 2023 Nissan Z Performance starts at $51,015 and packs a twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 heart. Better yet, even the entry-level Nissan Z Sport gets the same mill, meaning the Z produces a commendable 400 horsepower at every trim level. Moreover, Hagerty managed to coax the retro-inspired Z Performance to 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds. That’s snappy enough to outrun the bigger, heavier, more powerful Mopar brute.

Is the Ford Mustang GT a viable Dodge Challenger Scat Pack alternative?

Enter the most famous pony car in muscle car history: the Ford Mustang. Specifically, the latest Ford Mustang GTs start at $39,440 and produce 460 or 450 horsepower, depending on the model year. For instance, a 2022 Ford Mustang GT packs a 450-horsepower naturally aspirated Coyote V8 mill and will keep up with the bulkier, more powerful Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack. Like the Camaro, the Ford pony car offers a convertible, which requires special ordering and mass quantities of cash for a Dodge Challenger convertible

How much is a BMW M240i?

The BMW M240i starts at $49,545 and, according to Car and Driver, will outrun a Toyota GR Supra 3.0. While that fact might not be stirring by itself, it should be known that the M240i xDrive packs the same 382-horsepower mill from the Supra, courtesy of a collaboration between BMW and Toyota. Specifically, the AWD-equipped 2022 M240i will hit 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, 0.1 seconds faster than its sibling sports car. That makes the M240i a solid sports coupe alternative to the Dodge Challenger Scat Pack.
