While many are fortunate enough to be able to purchase a new car outright, there are many more who can’t afford the luxury of picking up a new set of wheels without incurring some significant form of debt. However, through the use of leases, manufacturers, and companies have been able to get more of their cars into more hands than would be possible if the market relied on upfront purchases.

Leasing allows people to spread the cost of a new car over an allotted period, in monthly increments. Far more people can afford to set aside a couple hundred dollars per month than set aside several thousand all at once. From tiny micro cars to large, luxurious sedans, nearly every car comes with a lease option these days.

The folks over at iSeeCars.com recently highlighted a few of the best leases one can grab for under $400 per month. “From sporty midsize to large luxury to stylish hybrid, the following five cars prove that you can, indeed, find some of the best car leases under $400 per month,” the site says. “Of course, these choices may not prove to everyone’s liking, but they do point out the variety and value of what’s available today in this still-affordable monthly lease payment.” The following are ranked alphabetically.

1. 2013 Acura TL

Lots of gadgets, a roomy, comfortable, and spacious interior and balanced driving dynamics make the Acura TL a competent and enjoyable all-around car. “For some, the styling is considered polarizing, but others say you can’t judge a car by its exterior looks,” iSeeCars.com says. “The proof has to be in the driving, and it’s here that the 2013 Acura TL midsize sporty sedan offers a balanced performance that families will find engaging.” It’ll cost about $390 per month on a 36-month lease, but with nothing due up front.

2. 2013 Cadillac XTS

It’s decidedly playing on the wire, but at $399 (after $3,999 due at signing), the Cadillac XTS does technically come in under $400 per month. However, for that amount, you are driving a Cadillac, which means “a powerful V6, a composed ride on winding roads, comfortable interior fitted with high-quality materials, lots of standard and safety features, and EPA-estimated fuel economy of 17 mpg city/28 mpg highway.”

3. 2013 Hyundai Genesis 3.8

Though the Hyundai Genesis’ lease terms nearly match that of the Cadillac (at $399 per month), the large sedan only requires $2,499 down at signing (compared to the $3,999 for the Caddy). The Genesis is powered by a 3.8 liter V6, “boasts excellent safety and reliability scores and comes with a long list of standard features.” Moreover, don’t think of the Genesis as being in the same league as the old Hyundai econo-cars. The Genesis is considered a large luxury car and can accommodate five people in comfort.

4. 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

For those looking for better fuel consumption but adequate passenger room, the Hyundai Sonata hybrid may be up your alley as it returns 36 miles per gallon in the city and 40 miles on highway (“good, but not as efficient as the Ford Fusion Hybrid,” iSeeCars.com notes). However, unlike the Fusion, the Sonata doesn’t require any money down, and can be had for $325 per month.

5. 2013 Lexus IS

“While not as athletic as the BMW 3-Series or as prestigious as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the Lexus IS provides performance that is well-balanced, along with exceptional value and reliability,” iSeeCars.com notes. Moreover, the IS can be obtained for $319 per month for 27 months after $2,599 upon signing, making it quite a reasonably priced entry-level luxury car.
