If you live or play in all-weather terrain, all-wheel drive (AWD) is one of the most important vehicle features to you. That is, of course, if you can afford it. If you happen to be on a stricter budget, finding cars equipped with this feature can be challenging. The good news is Kelley Blue Book has put together a list of the best used all-wheel drive SUVs priced under $10,000. Keep in mind that these are based on the KBB Fair Purchase Price range.

1. The 2012 Toyota RAV4

The 2012 Toyota RAV4 is first on KBB’s list, and it’s easy to see why. These Toyota SUVs are versatile and efficient. These models are also well-equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, cruise control, and keyless entry. Under the hood, you’ll find the 179-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, but if you’re looking for more power, high trims feature a 269-horsepower 3.5-liter V6. No matter which engine you go with, all-wheel drive is available.

2. The 2011 Honda CR-V

Although the 2011 Honda CR-V is one of the oldest models on the list, it truly holds its value – even years down the road. As a compact SUV crossover, it offers a little bit of everything in one unique package. The CR-V offers excellent ride quality and a practical interior design. It’s powered by a 180-horsepower 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, and all-wheel drive is optional.

3. The 2011 Honda Pilot

If you need the flexibility of a minivan as an SUV, the 2011 Honda Pilot won’t disappoint. It features three rows of seating, so there is plenty of room for the whole family. Powering this model is a robust 250-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine. All-wheel drive isn’t standard, so you’ll want to look for AWD-equipped models.

4. The 2014 Subaru Outback

The 2014 Subaru Outback is a very capable vehicle that comes with standard all-wheel drive. 2.5-liter base models feature a manual transmission, but the 256-horsepower 3.6-liter boxer 6-cylinder engine comes with an automatic. Limited models, for example, add on Subaru EyeSight active safety features.

5. The 2014 Mazda CX-9

The 2014 Mazda CX-9 features a spacious interior, available all-wheel drive, and many standard safety technologies. The Mazda CX-9 is powered by a 273-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 engine that is mighty and efficient. Some models come equipped with the Bose surround sound system for extra entertainment behind the wheel.

Should I buy a used all-wheel drive SUV?

If you plan on off-roading or do a lot of driving in extreme weather conditions, you might consider purchasing a used SUV with all-wheel drive. From the 2014 Subaru Outback to the 2011 Honda CR-V, there is a model that will meet your driving needs. Plus, used SUVs with AWD are more affordable than most of the new models on the market.
