Buying a brand-new luxury SUV can cost a pretty penny. You want to know you’re getting something that you’ll love from the first test drive to five years into ownership because most people don’t buy new cars to sell them anytime soon. Luxury SUVs also get hit with a massive amount of depreciation, so chance are you’re buying it to know you’re getting something reliable. Unfortunately, buying a new car doesn’t guarantee reliability, but these SUV options have it all.
Porsche steals the show
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of my Porsche Cayenne, but I was surprised to see that the two Porsche SUV options took the top spots for best luxury SUVs. The Cayenne and the Macan are decked with luxury, and they offer a genuinely exquisite driving experience — not to sound biased. As someone who isn’t a big fan of SUVs all together, I was surprised by how sporty the Cayenne turned out to be, and the Macan isn’t any different. If you’re looking for an SUV that offers just as much ‘sport’ as it does ‘utility’ all wrapped into a luxury vehicle, Porsche steals the show.
The Lexus RX is up next
Porsche isn’t without some stiff competition, and the Lexus RX can definitely hold its own. Buyers get the choice between a sporty V6 or a hybrid drivetrain that makes the SUV slightly more fuel-efficient. While it only gets an average of 29mpg, it makes up for it with a comfortable, spacious interior and nice ride quality. Even more appealing is the front fascia that boasts aggressive, modern styling, which is enough to make any Lexus fan drool.
Audi e-tron is the best electric option
There doesn’t seem to be much gossip about this all-electric SUV that hit the market this year. Perhaps the new Tesla Model Y snatched interested right out from under Audi, but there is one thing we know for sure: the e-tron is more reliable. The e-tron has all of the aggressive, sleek stylings we’ve come to expect from Audi, and it’s got the performance to match. The modest exterior is outshined but the well-equipped interior that pairs comfort and luxury with the latest tech, designed to look somewhat like a spaceship.
These luxury SUVs are just the tip of the iceberg. The more traction SUVs get in the consumer market, the more popular their luxury counterparts will also become. It’s clear that SUVs are the family car of the modern age, making even the best minivans less desirable. With such a wide selection of choices, it’s hard to pick which luxury SUV we love the most.
