There are many factors to consider when buying a new car that goes beyond the initial cost of it. For example, you have to think about the cost of maintenance, fuel costs, as well as insurance for it. With a starting price well under $15,000, the 2022 Chevrolet Spark is one of the cheapest new cars that you can buy. For that bargain-basement price, you’ll get a few nifty features like a rearview camera and 10 airbags in addition to a 98-hp engine and a five-speed manual transmission. If you want more safety features, then you can opt for the $295 Driver Confidence Package, according to Newsweek.

2. 2022 Toyota Prius Prime – MSRP: $28,220

Although the 2022 Toyota Prius Prime isn’t the cheapest model in the brand’s hybrid lineup, it’s a plug-in hybrid that can lead to more savings when it comes to insurance. On top of that, the Prius Prime comes standard with a host of driver-assist features and can be driven on all-electric power for up to 25 miles. When that range is depleted, it can still achieve up to an EPA-estimated 54 mpg.

3. 2022 Kia Rio – MSRP: $16,250

The uber-affordable 2022 Kia Rio comes standard with a surprising amount of tech features. In addition to an 8-inch touchscreen display, the Rio also comes with Bluetooth and wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Couple those attributes with cheap insurance rates and you have yourself a compact winner.

4. 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage – MSRP: $14,645

While the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage may not be the most substantial car on this list, it’s definitely one of the cheapest. The Mirage is offered in a sedan or hatchback body style, so there is some versatility for buyers. Additionally, it comes standard with a few safety features you don’t normally find on base trim levels like a forward collision warning, a lane departure warning, and automatic high beams.

5. 2022 Honda Accord – MSRP: $26,120

It’s safe to say that the 2022 Honda Accord needs no introduction. The Accord has been around for ages and has built up a strong reputation for being reliable and safe. In fact, the current Accord comes standard with the brand’s Honda Sensing suite of driver’s assist features as well as a few fuel-efficient engine choices and loads of space.
