1. AWD and 4WD are helpful, but not enough

Typically, the all-wheel drive SUVs would have a notable performance advantage in winter conditions. But according to Consumer Reports testing, the two-wheel drive, winter tire-clad sedan was able to keep up with and even match the snow and ice performance of the SUVs with all-seasons.
