Would you like to get behind the wheel of either the 2022 Honda Pilot or the 2022 Honda CR-V? In an earlier post, we discussed the advantages of the CR-V for crossover SUV shoppers — and now we cover the advantages of the Pilot. Here are four reasons to buy a 2022 Pilot, not a 2022 CR-V.

2022 Honda Pilot has better performance than the 2022 Honda CR-V

The first reason to buy a 2022 Honda Pilot instead of a 2022 Honda CR-V is the Pilot has better performance than the CR-V. All Pilot models feature a 3.5-liter V-6 engine, which generates 280 horsepower. The CR-V offers two engine options, but they both have a lower output than the engine for the Pilot. Its turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine produces 190 horsepower, and the hybrid system in the CR-V Hybrid generates 212 horsepower.

With its more powerful engine, the Pilot delivers quicker acceleration than the CR-V. It has a 0-60 mph time as low as 5.9 seconds, compared to 7.5 seconds for the CR-V.

2022 Pilot can tow more than the 2022 CR-V

The second reason to buy a 2022 Honda Pilot instead of a 2022 CR-V is the Pilot can tow more than the CR-V. If towing is a high priority, then the Pilot is the better choice for you. It has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds, compared to 1,500 pounds for the CR-V. With a 5,000-pound towing capacity, you can tow such things as a pop-up camper, a utility trailer, a boat, ATVs, snowmobiles, and jet skis.

Honda Pilot has better off-road capabilities than the Honda CR-V

The third reason to buy a 2022 Pilot instead of a 2022 CR-V is the Pilot has better off-road capabilities than the CR-V. While both crossover SUVs offer a traction-enhancing all-wheel drive system, only the Pilot has an off-road model with the TrailSport trim. The Pilot TrailSport is ready to head off in the wilderness with features like protective cladding and a lifted suspension.

2022 Pilot provides more interior space than the 2022 CR-V

The fourth reason to buy a 2022 Pilot instead of a 2022 CR-V is the Pilot provides more interior space than the CR-V. It can seat up to eight people and has a total passenger volume of 152.9 cu-ft. However, the CR-V has only a five-person seating capacity and a total passenger volume of just 105.9 cu-ft.

Also, the Pilot provides more storage space. It has a maximum cargo capacity of 83.9 cu-ft, compared to 75.8 cu-ft for the CR-V.

Plus, along with more interior space, the Pilot offers many interior features and technologies that are not available in the CR-V. This includes cooled front seats, heated rear seats, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a rear climate control system, and a rear entertainment system.

The 2022 Honda Pilot has advantages over the 2022 Honda CR-V for performance, towing, off-road capabilities, and interior space. These are key reasons for crossover SUV shoppers to buy a 2022 Pilot, not a 2022 CR-V.
