Most automakers have electrification plans, and every year, more and more people buy electric vehicles. This year, electric cars could explode in popularity. Here are four reasons to buy an EV in 2022. 

There is a great selection of EVs

The first reason to buy an EV in 2022 is there is a great selection of EVs. Tesla still dominates the EV segment, with vehicles such as the Model 3 sports sedan, Model S sports sedan, Model Y crossover SUV, and Model X SUV. Also, while charging an electric car is still slow, this is improving as well. For example, Ford is developing fast-charging technology that can charge an EV as quickly as a trip to the gas station. Also, this year, Electreon Wireless will build an electric road in Detroit that charges an EV as you drive. 

The performance of EVs is better than gas-powered cars

The fourth reason to buy an EV in 2022 is electric cars deliver better performance than gas-powered ones. As EV technology advances, the performance margin between electric cars and gas-powered ones becomes even greater. With their instant torque delivery, electric motors provide quick acceleration. In comparison, it takes more time for gas engines to reach peak torque output.
