The first reason to buy a 2023 Hyundai Tucson instead of a 2023 Toyota RAV4 is the Tucson provides more interior space than the RAV4. Both crossover SUVs can seat up to five people. However, the Tucson has a total passenger volume of 108.2 cu-ft, compared to 98.9 cu-ft for the RAV4. Also, the greater passenger space makes the biggest difference for the rear seats in the Tucson. It has 41.3 inches of rear legroom, compared to 37.8 inches for the RAV4.

Furthermore, the Tucson provides more space for storage. It has a rear cargo capacity of 38.7 cu-ft and a maximum cargo capacity of 80.3 cu-ft. In comparison, the RAV4 has a rear cargo capacity of 37.5 cu-ft and a maximum cargo capacity of 69.9 cu-ft.

One of the most trusted authorities for safety evaluations is the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The third reason to buy a 2023 Tucson instead of a 2023 RAV4 is the Tucson has better warranty coverage than the RAV4. All Tucson models have the backing of a 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. In comparison, the RAV4 has only a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Also, while both crossover SUVs have a free maintenance plan, the one for the Tucson is more generous. It is good for three years or 36,000 miles, compared to two years or 25,000 miles for the RAV4.

2023 Tucson is cheaper than the 2023 RAV4

The fourth reason to buy a 2023 Tucson instead of a 2023 RAV4 is the Tucson cheaper than the RAV4. The official price information is not yet available for the 2023 model year. However, the cost for each crossover SUV will likely only be slightly higher than the 2022 versions.

The starting price of the 2022 Tucson ranges from $24,950 MSRP for the SE trim up to $43,200 MSRP for the Plug-In Hybrid Limited trim. In comparison, the starting price of the 2022 RAV4 ranges from $26,975 MSRP for the LE trim up to $43,625 MSRP for the RAV4 Prime XSE trim.
