Luxury SUVs can be challenging to purchase. Which ones are worth the money? How do they compare to the competition? With such high price tags, customers justifiably need to get a lot out of their vehicle in this segment. One of the most popular models is the 2022 Lexus LX 600. Based on the Toyota Land Cruiser, it has a lot of expectations to live up to. Furthermore, it’s redesigned, and there’s plenty to like, but also some things to dislike. Here are the pros and cons of the redesigned 2022 Lexus LX 600.

According to Cars.com, the Lexus LX 600 luxury SUV is redesigned for the new model year. Based on its corporate cousin only found overseas, the Toyota Land Cruiser, this luxury model is a big deal. Cars.com says it has a smooth and potent powertrain, a comfortable ride, and tons of tech and off-roading features. Are you interested in driving a $100,000 SUV through the mud and other off-road terrains?

Pros: The LX 600 powertrain

First, Cars.com loves the Lexus SUV’s powertrain. Stating that the old V8 engine is gone, replaced by a more fuel-efficient and powerful V6. More specifically, it’s a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 that makes 409 horsepower. As you’d expect from a Lexus model, it shifts smoothly, drives perfectly, and makes the Lexus off-road luxury SUV very desirable.

Pros: Driving position

Next, the publication loves the driving position provided by the LX 600. There’s a high, upright seating position that’s very comfortable. Of course, everyone inside is comfortable sitting on the high-quality leather found throughout the cabin. Next, visibility on the road is excellent thanks to a low beltline and large glass area surrounding the driver. Not to mention, there are multiple cameras for seeing around the vehicle in a tight spot.

Pros: Ride quality

As we mentioned earlier, the ride quality of the 2022 Lexus LX600 is phenomenal. Cars.com says it has a “smooth, quiet, controlled ride around town or on the highway; that’s especially impressive given that our F Sport test vehicle came with a sport suspension and big 22-inch wheels.” Since it’s truck-based, such a smooth, luxurious feeling ride is unusual. It’s one of the things that makes the off-road luxury SUV a great option.

Pros: $100,000 off-roader

Although not everyone will want to take this expensive model off-roading, they can. With real capability off-road, the LX 600 can honestly do anything. It has standard four-wheel drive, plus many other off-road features. For example, a terrain monitoring system with multiple cameras, electronically controlled nodes to optimize for off-road conditions, and crawl control for those areas not built for a standard vehicle.

Cons: 2022 Lexus LX 600 interior spaciousness

First, the 2022 Lexus LX 600 is massive from the outside. At first glance, it seems safe to assume the interior would be just as expansive. However, that’s not the case. Cars.com says the interior of the luxury SUV is lacking in some areas for space. Despite a roomy front row, the rear rows are less spacious the further back you move. In addition, the third row isn’t roomy enough to comfortably sit a few adults.

Cons: Not always luxurious

Next, the LX 600 interior isn’t luxurious throughout the entire thing. It has quality leather, premium materials, and tons of technology, but it doesn’t feel like a $100,000 vehicle. Although it is very high quality, there’s just something missing for customers to pay six figures minimum. Next, there is some hard plastic throughout the cabin that you wouldn’t expect at this price point.

Cons: Problems with the screens

In addition to a lack of luxuriousness, the center screens could use improvement. First, the standard LX 600 has two center screens on the dash, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen mounted higher than the others. The larger unit is for entertainment, navigation, etc., while the lower ones are for climate, information, and more. Cars.com says the screens are not as smooth or “sophisticated” as competitors’ offerings.

Cons: The 2022 Lexus LX 600 price

Starting barely below $90,000, the redesigned LX 600 is very expensive. Moreover, the range-topping model costs over $130,000, which is outrageous. While this isn’t too absurd compared to the competition, Cars.com says rivals provide more bang for your buck. For example, the BMW X7 starts at around $100,000, and options can quickly get it up to $130K. However, it has a much fancier interior, more features, etc.

Pros and cons of the redesigned 2022 Lexus LX 600

In conclusion, if you’re in the market for a luxury SUV, the redesigned Lexus LX 600 is an excellent option. It has a smooth, refined powertrain, a perfect driving position, incredible ride quality, and off-roading capability. However, it also lacks space, isn’t all luxury, has screen problems, and is expensive. If you’re OK with spending six figures for this luxury Land Cruiser, it might be the right SUV for you.
