We aren’t ready for our time with the Audi Q5 to end, as it lives up to its luxury title with athleticism, comfort, and style. However, not everything about this SUV is perfect. Check out the pros and cons of the 2022 Audi Q5 that we’ve discovered.

Is the 2022 Audi Q5 worth buying?

Yes, the 2022 Audi Q5 is an excellent luxury SUV to consider. It has a strong build quality, it has plenty of standard conveniences features, there’s plenty of power on tap, and it’s surprisingly capable.

However, the Q5 starts at around $44,100, and the top-spec Prestige model increases the price to around $57,100. That’s an expensive price to consider with rivals like the Volvo XC30 and BMX X3 floating around. That’s why you should consider the pros and cons.

1. PRO: The 2022 Audi Q5 has the standard S-line interior

The 2022 Audi Q5 has a standard sporty S-line interior that’s both engaging and elegant. The perforated leather seats are well-cushioned and supportive. They have tons of side bolstering to hold you in place and provide hours of comfort.

Plus, the package includes a flat-bottom sport steering wheel for a racing feel and metal pedal covers. There are pops of metal trim to help the interior stand out too. Plus, it’s complete with genuine wood grain.

S-Line logos are added to the seats and lower door sills too. Also, the S-Line rides on larger wheels, comes with LED lighting and a more confident grille design.

2. PRO: The 2022 Q5 is perfect for nighttime driving

As the time changes and it gets darker earlier in the afternoon, the 2022 Audi Q5 is the perfect companion. The ambient lighting provides a relaxing and secure place for running errands and visiting friends.

You can easily adjust the colors and brightness of the ambient lighting. Plus, the automatic headlights are quick to automatically adjust to your surroundings. They provide plenty of light on the sides of the road and around curves.

The door sills display a lit-up Audi logo on the ground, so you can see where you’re stepping as you enter the vehicle. Plus, the S-Line logos on the door sills light up the ground too. It helps to avoid tripping!

3. PRO: The Audi Q5 cares about the little things

There are tons of small 2022 Audi Q5 features that make an incredible difference. For example, you can view the 3D version of the navigation map on the digital gauge cluster or the infotainment screen.

The map includes your elevation, the weather, and you can opt for traffic jam avoidance. Also, the digital rearview mirror includes a compass.

Certain trays and cubby areas include ambient lighting, so they’re easy to see in the dark. The center console can slide back and forth too.

The SUV pays attention to traffic and traffic lights. It will ding when the light turns green or once the vehicle in front of you pulls forward. This way, you can avoid getting honked at for sitting too long.

The seats have a thigh extension for extra support as needed, the head-up display has traffic sign recognition, a green shoe will illuminate on the digital gauge cluster when you should reduce your speed, and the intelligence efficiency system learns how you drive to automatically help you save fuel.

4. PRO: The Audi Q5 is comfortable

We enjoyed taking road trips in the 2022 Audi Q5. It has a spacious and comfortable interior. The seats have the perfect amount of space for adults of all sizes. They are supportive and energizing.

The Q5 provides a smooth ride over most surfaces, including rough patches of pavement and gravel. It feels composed around curves with very limited body roll. Also, the interior is extremely quiet, even at highway speeds.

We used the heated seats to warm up on cold mornings and the ventilated seats to keep cool during hot afternoons. The systems are strong and fast. Plus, the automatic climate control keeps the air conditioning at its optimal settings based on the climate.

1. CON: The Audi Q5 lacks storage space

The 2022 Audi Q5 doesn’t have a lot of storage trays or bins that are large enough for personal items. Wallets and phones are hard to fit around the center console. Also, the wireless phone charging pad is on a sliding tray that’s difficult to access.

The center console and glove box seem a bit tight, and the door pockets are limited. Also, the cup holders in the front and rear seem narrow. Personal items tend to slide out of the storage trays too.

2. CON: The 2022 Q5 can be slow to downshift

The 2022 Audi Q5 has an optional turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 261 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. According to Edmunds, this engine helps the Q5 accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.0 seconds.

It has a peppy acceleration, confident brakes, and the suspension is fine-tuned for a sporty performance that’s pretty addictive. However, the transmission can be slow to downshift, which may put a kink in the experience.

Once you let off the gas, the Q5 can feel a little confused, and it stutters a bit. To put it simply, sometimes the Q5 seems like it has slow reflexes.

3. CON: The Audi Q5 could use updated tech

The 2022 Audi Q5 has a 10.1-inch touchscreen, digital gauge cluster, and head-up display. The systems are easy-to-use and work very quickly. However, they feel a little basic and dated.

It might be time to update the graphics on the Audi software or to bring in new screens. The graphics are visible, but sometimes the navigation maps can look a little grainy.

Plus, the information provided by the digital gauge cluster and head-up display seemed limited compared to recently refreshed rivals.

Stay tuned for our full 2022 Audi Q5 review, where we go beyond the pros and cons to cover all of the specs.
