The Kia EV6 sets new standards that other electric vehicles can only hope to achieve. We are incredibly impressed by what the 2022 Kia EV6 offers, but it falls slightly short of being a complete package. 

Is the 2022 Kia EV6 worth buying?

Yes, the 2022 Kia EV6 is an excellent electric vehicle to buy. It is an engaging, comfortable, and convenient SUV that prioritizes driver enjoyment during family commutes and trips. 

However, while the EV6 is a well-rounded option, it feels a bit rushed. Seem features may have been overlooked and could use a little extra polish. That’s why we put a list of the pros and cons to consider.

1. PRO: The 2022 Kia EV6 is fun 

It’s hard not to smile while cruising around in the 2022 Kia EV6. The Kia EV6 Wind cranks out 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque for instant acceleration. This SUV can reach 60 mph in about 5.1 seconds. The EV6 GT can make it there in 3.5 seconds, which challenges the Ford Mustang Mach-E. 

The EV6 can take off with confidence and plenty of grip around curves. The suspension can feel light at times, but the tires provide plenty of grip, and the handling is pretty responsive. It’s easy to weave through traffic. 

Plus, the EV6 has a tight 19.1-foot turning radius. It’s nimble and easy to navigate through tight areas. It adds a new level of excitement and convenience to daily commutes. 

2. PRO: the Kia EV6 is comfortable 

You can relax in the Kia EV6 after a long day. The interior is pretty quiet, but you can notice wind and road noise at highway speeds. Also, the EV6 provides a smooth ride over most surfaces. 

Rough sections of the pavement are absorbed with ease. Plus, the EV6 has limited body roll with plenty of side bolstering to hold you in place. 

The seats are large and well-padded with tons of adjustment controls. The rear seat is comfortable and spacious, too, with enough space for two adults to stretch out. Plus, the backseat reclines!

3. PRO: The 2022 EV6 has excellent driving modes

You can easily adjust the driving mode and regenerative breaking levels in the 2022 Kia EV6 to tailor to your mood. The digital gauge cluster theme adjusts to each mode by changing colors. 

In the Sport Mode, the suspension is stiffer, and the response times are much faster for a more engaging ride. It changes the theme to red. 

Normal Mode is a bit more relaxed with a softer accelerator response. It changes the theme to blue and has slightly softer brakes. 

The Eco Mode is nice and green to conserve energy. It has the slowest acceleration speed and the most relaxed experience. 

You can return the most energy to the batteries in the third regenerative braking mode. However, this mode makes the brakes a bit soft and causes the vehicle to stop coasting to a stop early. 

It could take a little getting used to. The amount of energy returned to the batteries is pretty shocking and efficient. 

4. PRO: The EV6 charges quickly

We’re very impressed by how quickly the 2022 Kia EV6 charges. At a fast charging station, we replenished 90 miles of range in about 36 minutes. This is the fastest-charging vehicle that we’ve driving so far. 

With a Level 1 charger or 120-volt home outlet, you can return about nine miles of range per hour. A Level 2 charger replenishes the battery from 10 percent to 100 percent in roughly seven hours. 

You can use a DC fast charging station to add up to 217 miles of range in about 18 minutes. You can add about 70 miles of range in under five minutes. 

1. CON: Things are missing 

The 2022 Kia KV6 doesn’t come with everything right out of the box. For example, it doesn’t have a standard charging cable like other electric vehicles. 

You can only access pop-out door handles with the GT-Line. The door handles that don’t pop out may pinch your hands and fingers, so be careful. 

Also, the sunroof is limited to the GT-Line as well. It’s a little disappointing that the wind model has a regular, solid roof. 

2. CON: the Kia EV6 feels tight

The 2022 Kia EV6 feels a little small. The front seats have plenty of space, but the roofline is low, limiting headroom. The back seat can only fit two adults comfortably though, and the floor is flat. This provides space for a third, smaller person.

But, storage space is limited. Aside from a deep center console, there aren’t many places to store personal items. The trays are small, and the doors have tight side pockets, especially in the rear. 

The trunk provides plenty of cargo room, but the cargo cover gets in the way. It has to be removed to fold the second-row seats down or for the backseat to recline.

3. CON: The charging port is in the rear 

The 2022 Kia EV6 is equipped with the charging port in the rear. It’s pretty far back there with the taillights, making it frustrating to access on the right side. Thank goodness some charging stations have super long cables that are easy to reach. 

However, if you don’t want to stretch the cord, you’ll have to back into the charging station. This may add an extra inconvenient step. 

Also, imagine parking your vehicle and discovering the cord doesn’t reach it. Would you be happy if you had to get back in your EV6 and repark to charge it?
