Autotrader has released its list of best new cars for 2022. Although the list refers to cars, it has plenty of trucks on it as well. Whether you’re interested in learning more about the Ford F-150 Lightning, the Nissan Frontier, or any of the other pickups that made the cut, read on. We’ve got all the details covered.

Autotrader loves the Ford F-150 Lightning

The Ford F-150 Lightning ranks number two on Autotrader‘s list of best 2022 vehicles. What’s great about the F-150 Lightning is that it combines the power of a traditional Ford F-150 with the environmental friendliness of an electric vehicle.

In addition to raving about the pickup truck’s EV technology, Autotrader is also particularly enamored of the truck’s large “frunk,” which, for the uninitiated, is a trunk located in the vehicle’s front. Add to this truck’s perks its Intelligent Backup Power, over-the-air software updates, and 11 power outlets. With all this at a driver’s disposal, it’s no wonder the F-150 Lightning ranks high on the list.

The Ford Maverick also makes AutoTrader’s list of best pickup trucks

The Ford Maverick makes an excellent choice for anyone looking to buy a more compact pickup, which can be harder to come by these days. The truck starts at a price of around $20,000, making it one of your more affordable options.

Environmental friendliness ranks high as a priority for the Ford Maverick. The standard version of this truck is a hybrid model that will help you save on fuel costs as energy prices soar. This pickup truck gets an impressive 42 mpg in the city, which is a perk that not too many other pickups can offer.

This truck’s fuel efficiency doesn’t mean it lacks power, however. It can tow up to 2,000 lbs., making it easy to haul what you need to, whether that’s cargo or camping gear.

Nissan Frontier listed among the top trucks

Coming in at number 10 on Autotrader’s list is the 2022 Nissan Frontier. One of this truck’s key selling points is the power of its engine. With an 3.8 L V6 engine that offers 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque, this is a best-in-class truck when it comes to horsepower. Torque isn’t too shabby either, coming in second only to the Ford Ranger.

The pickup truck also comes with a good deal of the latest technology for the consumer. This includes Zero Gravity seats, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, USB-A, and USB-C power outlets, and a 120-volt household-style outlet to make sure you stay adequately charged.

Rivian R1T was named a best new pickup truck

Ranking just below the Nissan Frontier on AutoTrader’s list is the Rivian R1T. It’s possible you haven’t yet heard of Rivian, which is a relative newcomer to the vehicle market and focuses on electric vehicles.

AutoTrader has only good things to say about this electric pickup. As editor Eric Brandt puts it, “After years of seeing all kinds of cutting-edge EV concepts from would-be Tesla rivals, the Rivian R1T is a high-tech electric pickup you can actually buy. With a long-range, premium interior, and promising capabilities, the R1T checks every box for an adventurous EV.”

So if you’re looking to buy a new pickup in the relatively near future, you have a lot of great options to choose from. Whether you’re hoping for an EV, hybrid, or more traditional vehicle, there’s something for everyone out there. It’s just a matter of carefully considering your options.
