The Nissan LEAF provides a solid, affordable EV to car shoppers who don’t want Tesla prices. Better yet, the little Nissan EV offers a semi-autonomous highway driving system akin to autopilot. The LEAF’s “ProPilot” system uses adaptive cruise control technology with stop-and-go capabilities to take almost all of the effort out of driving. Moreover, the Nissan suite includes automatic speed adjustments for highway exiting and merging and speed limit monitoring.
Of course, the Nissan LEAF won’t fully drive itself; TrueCar says ProPilot requires the operator to keep a hand on the steering wheel. Moreover, the SV Plus trim with the autopilot feature starts at around $36,895. That makes the LEAF a much more affordable option than a Tesla Model 3, which starts at about $48,190, depending on the trim and location.
Is the Volkswagen ID.4 an affordable EV with autopilot?
The Volkswagen ID.4 is an affordable EV compared to premium options. Moreover, the ID.4 boasts autopilot features like Travel Assist, which combines a steering control provision and adaptive cruise control. As a result, the ID.4’s Level 2 semi-autonomous system will pace with other vehicles, stay centered within lanes, and apply the brakes in an emergency. The Volkswagen EV’s autopilot system works up to 95 mph.
The Volkswagen ID.4 Pro starts at around $42,525, and the higher trim ID.4 Pro S is at $47,025.
Does the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV come with autopilot?
The fan-favorite Hyundai Ioniq 5 has a self-driving suite similar to other EVs’ autopilot features. The Ioniq 5 features Level 2.5 semi-autonomous driving technology. For instance, the Ioniq 5 uses a Highway Driver Assist (HDA) suite to complete the tasks that EV shoppers associate with autopilot semi-autonomous driving. Also, the Hyundai model features Forward Collision Awareness Assist and Driver Attention Warning system, which help its operator stay aware of obstacles and road conditions.
Finally, the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 starts at around $44,895 and uses the HDA 1 suite, while the higher trims get the more advanced HDA 2 system. Still a cheaper option than a Tesla Model 3.
Does Bolt EUV have autopilot?
The Chevrolet Bolt EUV’s Super Cruise system is, according to Motor and Wheels, the first EV hands-free driver assistance system akin to autopilot. Chevrolet says the 2023 Bolt EUV’s Super Cruise system incorporates a LiDAR mapping system and cameras to support autopilot functionality. However, Super Cruise is only available with the range-topping Premium trim, which starts at about $31,700.
Still, the EUV is a much cheaper option than a comparable Tesla Model 3 or Jaguar I-Pace. Of course, you shouldn’t rely on autopilot or similar features to drive for you; stay alert while you drive.
