The full-size electric sedan market is heating up. Well, the main competition is between the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS and the Tesla Model S. The Mercedes EQS offers buyers the familiarity of German luxury and comfort, while the Tesla Model S offers performance and quirky technology. We had a chance to check out the Mercedes-Benz EQS recently and found four advantages it has over the Model S.

1. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS has a larger infotainment screen

One of the main highlights of the Tesla Model S, when it came out, was its massive 17-inch touchscreen. It controls a lot of the car’s functions and is really cool to look at. However, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS’ Hyperscreen makes it look like an old-school TV in comparison.

The Hyperscreen is a 56-inch screen that stretches across the dashboard. Although it looks like one giant screen, it’s actually comprised of three different touchscreens. There’s a 12.3-inch screen in front of the driver, a 17-inch screen in the middle, and another 12.3-inch screen in front of the passenger. Needless to say, it looks really cool and is definitely futuristic.

2. The Mercedes-Benz EQS has a natural voice control built-in

The Mercedes-Benz EQS has a voice control feature built into its infotainment system. This means that you can simply say, “Hey Mercedes!” and then give a command to make a feature work while you’re driving. For example, saying, “Hey Mercedes! I’m cold,” will make the system increase the cabin temperature. The Tesla does not have that feature.

3. The Mercedes-Benz EQS has a far more robust interior than the Tesla Model S

Speaking of interiors, the Mercedes-Benz EQS has a far more substantial interior than the Model S. Don’t get us wrong, we like the Tesla’s minimalist design. However, it’s hard to beat the EQS’ real leather seats, soft-touch materials, and beefy steering wheel.

4. The EQS has over 64 interior ambient light colors

Lastly, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS has over 64 interior ambient LED light colors that look amazing at night time. Yes, it’s a little gimmicky, but we like it. And the Tesla does not have it.

2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS vs. Tesla Model S: Which one should you buy?

If you’re in the market for a $100,000 all-electric full-size sedan, there are no better choices than the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS and the Tesla Model S. And while the Model S is fast and offers a lot of high-tech features, the EQS offers the same stuff in its own unique way.

As for which one to get? If performance is what you seek and you want to be like the countless other EV owners that have enjoyed their Teslas for years, buy the Model S. But if you want something that’s new and has more to offer in terms of style, personality, and charm, the Mercedes-Benz EQS is the way to go.
