I know that Jeep Wrangler owners have a reputation for being wild. However, perhaps things got a little too crazy in Galveston, Texas. During Jeep Weekend, police officers found 42 guns and arrested about 300 people.

Jeep weekend gets out of control in Texas with 300 arrests and 42 guns

Shout out to Jeep Weekends at Galveston, Texas. This event has had Jeep Wrangler owners coming together for about 10 years. It’s a sandy tradition full of ducks and topless rides.

However, this year, things didn’t really go as planned as drivers were out of control. The Galveston Sheriff’s Office shared that there were 275 arrests made across the Bolivar Peninsula during the event.

Texan police officers shared that the 275 arrests include 278 misdemeanor charges and 52 felony charges. They seized 42 guns including everything from pistols, shotguns, rifles, and everything in between.

A police officer identified as 35-year-old Reginald Boykin was one of the people arrested. He allegedly had an open container and expired plates on his Wrangler. Then he failed to show his driver’s license.

There were 313 arrests made during Jeep Weekend in 2024. Officials and authorities released new safety rules and stricter enforcement a week ahead of the event to crackdown on violence.

According to KDFM, over 400 law enforcement officers from multiple agencies are stationed across the event area. The increase in police presence has reduced event turnout.

However, the goal isn’t to shut down the event. It’s to improve safety as the Jeep community comes out to celebrate. So far, the plan is working with no major issues to report.

Police officers are committed to closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of all attendees and the surrounding community.
