The 2023 Ford Ranger has an MSRP of $27,400, while the 2023 Nissan Frontier comes in at $29,190. The Ranger is a little cheaper, but the Frontier has a more comfortable ride quality and more standard power.

While we’re waiting for the remodeled Ranger to arrive, the Frontier has modern tech and convenience updates. However, there are a few things that could make the Ranger more attractive.

1. The 2023 Ranger is more reliable than the 2023 Frontier

The 2023 Ford Ranger has the potential to last longer than the 2023 Nissan Frontier. J.D.Power gave the 2023 Frontier a score of 83 out of 100 for its predicted reliability score. The Ford Ranger got an 86 out of 100.

Both scores are above average, but Consumer Reports expects the Frontier to be less reliable than the average new vehicle. In contrast, the Ranger is expected to have an average reliability ranking.

According to Vehicle History, the average Ranger model is expected to make it past 300,000 miles. It can provide 20 years of service on the road. The Frontier is expected to make it between 100,000 to 200,000 miles but can live longer.

2. The Ranger packs more muscle

The 2023 Ford Ranger can tow up to 7,500 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,860 lbs. When properly equipped, the 2023 Nissan Frontier can tow up to 6,690 lbs and carry a payload of up to 1,610 lbs.

This may give the Ranger an advantage as a work truck and family hauler. It can pull slightly heavier RVs and trailers.

The Nissan Frontier has a standard 3.8-liter V6 engine with 310 hp and 281 lb-ft of torque, giving it the best-in-class power. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 7.8 seconds.

With the Ford Ranger, you get a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine with 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. It can reach 60 mph in about 6.8 seconds.

3. The Ranger is larger than the Frontier

The 2023 Ford Ranger is a bit wider and longer than the 2023 Nissan Frontier. This provides drivers and passengers with more head space and legroom. If you have passengers in the back seat, they might enjoy having more room.

Plus, the Ranger offers more cargo space than the Frontier. But keep in mind that the Frontier has a better cargo layout than the Ranger. There are spacious cubbies and trays to take advantage of, but the cup holders sit where the optional wireless charging pad goes.

Both trucks offer storage space under the rear seat, and the seats can be flipped up to provide more room. The subwoofer from the Frontier’s Fender audio system takes up a little space.

So, while the Nissan Frontier is a bit more modern and comfortable, the Ford Ranger brings a higher reliability ranking, more towing power, and more passenger space to the table.
