The 2023 Buick Encore GX is the perfect blend of luxury and power. Its classy, sophisticated exterior is complemented by two different powerful turbocharged engine options, giving you plenty of pep on the roads.

Although the Encore GX may sound more like a trim level than a full-fledged SUV, this small crossover replaces the Encore model and packs a punch in terms of tech and safety features. Some of the standard features GX offers include an 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless charging, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. It also offers plenty of safety features, such as lane keep assist and automatic emergency braking.

The base trim features a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine that generates 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. You can also opt for the more powerful turbocharged 1.3-liter three-cylinder engine that offers 155 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque. A continuously variable transmission is standard on front-wheel drive models, and a nine-speed automatic transmission is standard on all-wheel drive versions.

According to MotorTrend, the 2023 Buick Encore GX has earned an impressive 7.9 out of 10 ratings falling in the 11th spot on the list of best SUVs. The main reasons behind its high score are its good tech and safety features, perky styling, and smart cabin design.

2. 2023 Buick Envision

The 2023 Buick Envision is a midsize crossover that offers plenty of luxury amenities and premium design elements. It comes in three trims: Preferred, Essence, and Avenir, with the latter offering additional comfort and convenience.

Although the interior isn’t as posh as other offerings in the segment, it does offer a contemporary design. An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities dominate the dashboard. The Envision also comes with a rearview camera, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, and other driver-assistance features as standard.

The 2023 Buick Envision offers only one engine, a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit that produces 230 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and can be had with front-wheel or all-wheel drive. According to CarAndDriver, the 2023 Envision can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.3 seconds, which is decent for a small SUV. Most drivers would find the power more than sufficient for day-to-day tasks.

MotorTrend awarded the 2023 Buick Envision a 7.9 out of 10 rating, ranking it 9th on the list of luxury compact SUVs. Some areas that earned Envision a high score are its powertrain, composed ride, comfortable and quiet interior, and sharp exterior design.

3. 2023 Buick Enclave

The 2023 Buick Enclave is a full-size crossover SUV with three rows of seating for up to seven passengers. Its sleek exterior gives it a sophisticated yet sporty look, while its spacious and luxurious interior gives it a top footing among its peers. Premium leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, three-zone automatic climate control, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto are some of Enclave’s standard features.

Every 2023 Buick Enclave is powered by a powerful 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 310 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission and comes with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The EPA estimates the 2023 Enclave can return up to 20 mpg in the city, 17 mpg on the highway, and 25 mpg combined.

Meanwhile, a 7.7 out of 10 rating from MotorTrend places the Buick Enclave in the fifth spot on the list of luxury three-row SUVs. Motortrend highlighted the 2023 Enclave’s serene, smooth ride, attractive design, and good third-row legroom for the class as the main areas for its high score.
