The 2022 Kia EV6 is a stylish and practical electric SUV from the Kia brand. It shares its basic components with the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and it has been finding some legitimate popularity. But for many, buying an EV may not seem like the right choice when shopping for a new car. These are three key things that we feel those interested in the 2022 EV6 should consider before purchasing this model.

The 2022 Kia EV6 has legitimate performance

One of the major benefits of buying a new EV model is the near-instantaneous delivery of power. When it comes to the EV6, this is made even better because Kia’s EV has serious performance. When properly equipped, the 2022 EV6 offers up to 320 horsepower and 446 pound-foot of torque. It is this power that gives the EV6 a faster 0 to 60 mph time than that of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe.

If that power is not enough for you, it may be worth waiting for the Kia EV6 GT. This performance model of Kia’s EV model will reportedly have 576 horsepower and a range of changes to make for a more engaging drive. All while retaining the practicality of this new SUV.

The EV6 can handle winter

Those who live in the northern United States or other regions that get cold weather may be wondering if an EV can handle winter. The 2022 Kia EV6 offers a couple of notable features to help deal with inclement weather. When outfitted with all-wheel drive, the Kia EV6 can be outfitted with a heat pump. According to Car and Driver, this means range will not take as big of a hit when the temperature drops.

And, as mentioned before, this electric SUV does offer AWD. AWD provides power to all four wheels which will also help when road conditions get harsh.

Range is impressive on the 2022 EV6 electric SUV

When it comes to EVs, range is one of the key factors in a purchase. The Kia EV6 has a maximum range of about 310 miles, which should be decent enough to handle most needs. When equipped with AWD, the EV6 has an estimated range of 274 miles.

In terms of charging, with ultra-fast DC charging the Kia EV6 can charge up to 217 miles in under 20 minutes. It is worth noting that this kind of charging is not available everywhere, but it is nice to have the capability.

The Kia EV6 has a starting cost of $40,900 and it is a practical SUV to buy. Not only will you no longer have to worry about filling up at the pump, but the EV6 also has daily usability and attractive styling. Plus, it is eligible for federal tax incentives which can help alleviate some of the costs.

With its range, performance, and ability to handle winter, the 2022 EV6 is another victory for new EVs. Availability is currently limited, but we expect this model to gain in popularity as it becomes more widespread.
