The 2021 Hyundai Tucson is a compact SUV that’s modestly priced, stocked full of features, and better-looking than ever before. The 2021 Subaru Forester, on the other hand, is an SUV that’s a tad more expensive but also comes standard with all-wheel drive. But, does standard all-wheel drive make the Forester a better pick than the Hyundai Tucson? We say no. Instead, we’ve got three reasons as to why you should choose the 2021 Hyundai Tucson over its Subaru competition.

The Hyundai Tucson was voted #1 in initial quality among its segment

Unlike the 2021 Subaru Forester, this year’s new Hyundai Tucson was recognized by J.D. Power as being the number one in initial quality among its segment. According to Hyundai, the Tucson beat out 14 competitors to secure the top spot on the list which judges vehicles based on nine different categories.

That’s not to say the 2021 Subaru Forester isn’t a quality SUV, though. For two years in a row, Subaru has ranked number one in brand loyalty in the automotive industry. It’s merely that the Tucson was able to beat the Forester specifically when it comes to J.D. Power’s initial quality tests.

The Tucson comes with Hyundai Complimentary Maintenance

You’re going to want to keep your vehicle in good condition, and while sitting around at the auto body shop doesn’t exactly sound thrilling, keeping up on regularly scheduled maintenance is key to keeping your car on the road for miles to come. Fortunately, when you opt for the 2021 Hyundai Tucson, Hyundai Complimentary Maintenance comes standard.

Hyundai has you covered for standard factory scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles (whichever comes first) with this complimentary plan. Complimentary services include things such as oil changes, tire rotations, and multi-point inspections.

Unfortunately for the Subaru Forester, there’s no such thing as complimentary vehicle maintenance. Instead, you’ll be expected to dole out maintenance funds yourself.

“America’s Best Warranty” is standard on all models

Hyundai is known for its top-notch warranty coverage too. All new Hyundai models, including the 2021 Hyundai Tucson, come standard with a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, a 5-year/60,000-mile new vehicle limited warranty, and a 7-year/unlimited miles anti-perforation warranty.

Subaru, meanwhile, doesn’t offer warranty coverage that’s quite as extensive. Its new vehicle limited warranty lasts for three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first, while its powertrain limited warranty lasts for five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. And when it comes to rust? Subaru has you covered for only five years, regardless of mileage.

Compare the two automakers, and it’s easy to see that Hyundai offers significantly better warranty coverage than Subaru does. Add in complimentary maintenance, and the Tucson continues to be the better choice.
