If you’re shopping for a new versatile off-road SUV, the 2022 Ford Bronco is on your list. While it beats the Jeep Wrangler in many ways, it has some bad qualities. Overall, the Bronco is an excellent choice, but here are a few reasons not to buy the 2022 Ford Bronco.

Reasons not to buy the 2022 Ford Bronco: Cabin materials

While the pricier models of the SUV are tempting, the interior isn’t worth the price. According to Car and Driver, the cabin materials look mediocre. When you’re paying upwards of $40,000 or $50,000, you’ll want the interior of the Bronco to shine. Chances are, it’s a place you’ll spend a lot of time, and owners always want to feel comfortable. Paying a premium for the best means the materials should never look or feel “mediocre.”

Additionally, CAD noted that the long side glass could snag the weatherstripping and allow wind inside the cabin. This decreases comfortability and increases the noise while driving, especially at high speeds. Although the higher trim’s leather seating is excellent, they also come with large plastic panels that don’t bode well.

Don’t buy the Bronco because of its poor fuel economy

It’s unlikely you’re buying a Ford Bronco if you’re overly worried about fuel economy. Still, gas prices are incredibly high, and electric vehicles are now available everywhere. At the very least, the Bronco should try to reduce its fuel usage to save owners money. However, the 2022 Ford Bronco gets 20 city and 22 highway mpg with its four-cylinder, which drops to 17 in both driving areas with the V6 engine.

Bronco buyers who opt for the V6 engine will be highly disappointed with these numbers. Especially in 2022, a time when pickup trucks are beginning to offer fuel economy well above 20 mpg. Just look at the same automaker’s small pickup offering, the hybrid Ford Maverick, which gets 37 combined mpg. If you want to reduce your trips to the gas station, there’s a reason not to buy the 2022 Ford Bronco.

Because they’re all being marked up

If you’ve heard anything about the new Ford Bronco since it came out, it’s that they’re hard to find. Not only are people with reservations still waiting for their model to come in, but they’re also being skipped over. Thanks to dealers who put markup prices on their inventory models, Ford prioritized that cash instead of customers with reservations.

That’s why people who have had a Bronco reserved for years still don’t have one. It’s also the most significant reason not to buy one, at least right now. Since there have been so many halts in production, markups, and more, the Bronco is far too expensive. You’d be hard-pressed to find one of these SUVs for MSRP. If you do, buy it right away.

Is the 2022 Ford Bronco a good SUV?

If you’re interested in the 2022 Ford Bronco, it is an excellent SUV overall. It won some awards, outmatched rivals in many ways, and more. Good luck finding one, but there are a few reasons not to buy one if you do. If you don’t buy Ford Bronco SUV, it might be because it is currently severely overpriced, has poor fuel economy, or lackluster cabin materials.
