Toyota introduced an exciting new model for the 2022 model year: the Corolla Cross. It combines the design elements of the best-selling Corolla sedan with crossover SUV spaciousness and utility. One of the biggest crossover SUV competitors of the Corolla Cross is the Honda HR-V. Here are three reasons to buy a 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross, not a Honda HR-V.

The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross provides better performance than the 2022 Honda HR-V

The first reason you should buy the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross instead of the 2022 Honda HR-V is its better performance. The Corolla Cross features a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which generates 169 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. In comparison, the 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine in the HR-V manages only 141 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque.

Also, with the more powerful engine, the Corolla Cross can tow up to 1,500 pounds, while the HR-V is not recommended for towing. Furthermore, with its considerably higher ground clearance (up to 8.1 inches vs. 7.3 inches), the Corolla Cross delivers better off-road performance.

Corolla Cross offers more standard technologies than the HR-V

The second reason to buy the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross instead of the 2022 Honda HR-V is the Corolla Cross has more standard technologies than the HR-V. Considering that the Corolla Cross is geared for budget-minded car buyers, it’s remarkable that it has so many standard technologies.

For the interior of the Corolla Cross, notable standard technologies include a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, and satellite radio. In comparison, the HR-V doesn’t offer a Wi-Fi hotspot, and smartphone integration and satellite radio are only offered for the higher trims.

Furthermore, the Corolla Cross has more standard driving assistance technologies than the HR-V. For example, the Corolla Cross comes standard with a lane-keeping system and lane departure alert, but these features are only available for higher HR-V trims.

2022 Corolla Cross, but not the 2022 HR-V, has a free maintenance plan

The third reason to buy the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross instead of the 2022 Honda HR-V is its free maintenance plan. Maintenance is one of the most significant costs of vehicle ownership. However, keeping your car routinely maintained is crucial, for it helps ensure that it runs well, is reliable, lasts a long time, and is safe to drive.

The Corolla Cross makes routine maintenance both a convenient and affordable endeavor. This is because all new Corolla Cross models have a ToyotaCare free maintenance plan, which is good for two years or 25,000 miles.

ToyotaCare for the Corolla Cross includes engine oil and filter changes, tires rotations, multi-point inspections, and topping off of the fluids. Also, all ToyotaCare service is conducted by Toyota-trained technicians, with the use of only genuine Toyota parts. In comparison, the HR-V doesn’t have a free maintenance plan.

The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross has advantages for performance, technologies, and a free maintenance plan. These advantages are strong reasons to buy the 2022 Corolla Cross instead of the 2022 HR-V.
