If you’re in the market for a new midsize pickup truck, you might’ve marked down the 2022 Nissan Frontier as an option. Not only is it an excellent option, but there are some significant reasons to buy one. Here are some reasons to buy the 2022 Nissan Frontier instead of other models.

2022 Nissan Frontier: Refreshed and ready

While the Frontier might not win any awards over its competition, it’s newly refreshed. According to Car and Driver, the interior and exterior received a bit of an overhaul for 2022. With updates like these, it’s easy to be tempted away from the same old Tacoma, Ranger, or Ridgeline. Specifically, the interior is more excellent and modern than prior model years.

The third generation finally comes after more than a decade and a half. With it comes nicer trim pieces and soft-touch surfaces to improve the interior quality. A gauge cluster grew to a larger 7.0-inch display, and heated seats and a steering wheel are available. Speaking of seats, the Frontier uses Nissan’s exquisitely comfortable Zero Gravity chairs. Gone are the days of outdated interior plastics and inferior design.

Pro-4X trim is good on and off road

While the most rugged model of Nissan Frontier might not beat the Colorado ZR2 or Gladiator off-road, it’s just as refined on the road. Plus, it’s well-equipped with everything the other models have and more. Features like Bilstein shock absorbers, three skid plates, a rear locking differential, and dark-painted wheels with all-terrain tires.

With the included and available packages, buyers get just about everything with a Frontier Pro-4X. Features like a 360-degree camera system, a wireless smartphone charging pad, leather upholstery, and red and charcoal accents improve the interior. Elsewhere, safety features like lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic rear braking, and adaptive cruise control come with the technology package.

Not only is this model a luxury-filled and smooth-riding pickup truck, but it’s also an off-road beast. For any terrain, the 2022 Nissan Frontier is more than capable.

The 2022 Nissan Frontier has a great standard engine

While other automakers shy away from raw power, the Nissan Frontier engine lives on. If you want horsepower without sacrificing too much, every Frontier provides that. Each trim down to the base S comes with a 3.8-liter V6 making 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. Each trim is also available in 2WD or 4WD, other than the Pro-4X, which is 4WD only.

The lack of a hybrid engine might hurt the Frontier a bit, for now. However, we expect every automaker to have a hybrid or electric option in every class soon. Nissan is a little behind the eight ball in terms of fuel efficiency. The Nissan Frontier gets 18 city, and 24 highway mpg, which isn’t too bad considering the only engine is the V6. While it could use another option, engine power and the ability to tow 6,720 pounds is nice.

Reasons to buy the 2022 Nissan Frontier

As far as midsize pickup trucks go, the Frontier is one of the best options. If you’re tired of the same old trucks over and over, choose Nissan’s offering because it’s refreshed for 2022. If you need something that can handle off-road terrain and performs well during everyday driving, the 2022 Nissan Frontier beats rivals. Lastly, the standard engine is a powerful, capable one. While a hybrid or more fuel-efficient option would be nice, it’s a great engine to have in a sub-$30,000 pickup truck. Those are the three main reasons to buy a 2022 Nissan Frontier.
