Ford is no stranger to the world of trucks and pickups. The brand regularly leads the pack in this segment. The 2023 Ford Maverick is the latest version of the brand’s compact pickup. While orders for the 2023 Maverick have been delayed in opening, once they do, it should still prove itself as a popular small truck. This pickup is legitimately affordable and has serious practicality. Plus, you can even get a turbocharged engine and all-wheel drive. But, the base hybrid powertrain is not one you should count out.

The 2023 Ford Maverick is efficient

Although gas prices have been falling, buyers still value something that is efficient. The 2023 Maverick Hybrid offers just that. The engine is paired to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that optimizes acceleration and driving. The 2.5-liter hybrid engine makes the Maverick one of the first full-hybrid trucks. And that is a reflection of Ford’s commitment to the future of the automotive industry.

While fuel economy will vary, one Youtuber reported getting up to 50 mpg from the 2022 Maverick. And if you are familiar with trucks, you likely know how crazy that is.

The 2023 Maverick Hybrid is practical

In terms of practicality, the Maverick Hybrid truly shines. It has a 4.5-foot bed and can haul up to 1,500 pounds as standard. While you do need to opt for the turbocharged engine in order to benefit from the 4K Tow Package, the hybrid model can handle light towing duty.

The interior of the 2023 Maverick Hybrid is also focused on practicality. According to Car and Driver, there are various charge ports and convenient storage options. And, because you can get the hybrid engine on higher trim levels, you can benefit from more comfort features.

The Maverick Hybrid is cheap

New trucks only seem to be getting more expensive, but the 2023 Ford Maverick throws out that stereotype. The starting price of the Maverick is right around $20,000. And that puts its pricing closer to that of a compact car than an actual pickup truck.

Now, unfortunately, not every Maverick will be cheap. Because of the high demand, Ford’s compact pickup has been experiencing markups left and right. Once the 2023 Maverick goes on sale, if you order one directly from Ford, you should be able to pay MSRP. And with the hybrid model, that will give you a legitimately affordable truck.

Is the 2023 Ford Maverick a good truck?

The Ford Maverick has been an incredible small truck for the Ford brand. It has sold so well that you can no longer order a 2022 Maverick. If you want one, you must find one at a dealership or buy on the used market.

If you want a compact pickup but do not need AWD, the hybrid Maverick could be a good purchase for you. It is both efficient and practical, which makes for a good combination. Once the 2023 model is released, it will likely sell quickly. So, you might want to act quickly if you want one.
