The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line starts at $37,320. According to Consumer Reports, the average new vehicle price reached an all-time high of over $47,000 at the beginning of the year.

The Tiguan R-Line’s starting price may seem high when compared to more affordable rivals in its vehicle segment, but the SUV provides great value for its price. The final trim level Tiguan is packed with standard features that make it worth the money.

The 2022 Honda CR-V Touring final trim starts at $36,600. The RAV4 Limited final trim level starts at $35,475. With a little context, the Tiguan R-Line’s starting price doesn’t seem so high. Car and Driver recommends the more affordable SE trim, but there are plenty of reasons to go with VW’s last Tiguan trim.

The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line comes standard with 15-color interior ambient lighting, leather seating surfaces, and heated front seats. It also includes a leather-wrapped gearshift knob, a leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, and ventilated front seats.

The VW Tiguan R-Line includes three 12-volt power outlets, rain sensing windshield wipers, and an illuminated grille. It also features a hands-free remote liftgate, all-weather lights, and heated windshield washer nozzles.

The 2022 VW Tiguan R-Line uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to make 184 horsepower. It isn’t the quickest in its vehicle segment by a long shot, but it does offer decent driving dynamics. The compact SUV achieves 21 miles per gallon in the city and 28 miles per gallon on the highway.

If you’re looking for a powerhouse, the VW Tiguan R-Line isn’t the SUV for you. This compact SUV specializes in comfort. It provides a smooth ride quality and its standard creature comforts make it a pleasure to drive, and ride in. Car and Driver gave the Tiguan a near-perfect overall score.

The Tiguan R-Line has a roomy cabin and it handles well. This sporty European SUV shows the softer side of German engineering. Great SUVs don’t always need huge thirsty engines that make a massive amount of horses.

The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line also comes with several advanced driver assistance and safety features to make the overall driving experience even more comfortable. It features adaptive cruise control, travel assist, lane assist, and emergency assist. The compact SUV also includes a blind-spot monitor with rear traffic alert, park assist with park distance control, and a wireless smartphone charger.
