The 3 Pickup Trucks With the Least Amount of Cabin Noise, According to Consumer Reports

Pickup trucks are well-known for being cars that provide a lot of power and performance, and many customers expect that to come at a cost. So, as a tradeoff, trucks aren’t typically known for having a comfortable interior or low amounts of cabin noise. Yet, fortunately, this isn’t always the case. For folks who want a calm and mindful driving experience, here’s a look at the three pickup trucks on the market with the least amount of cabin noise, according to Consumer Reports.

1. The 2022 Ram 1500

According to Consumer Reports, despite the Ram 1500 having a lot of powerful engine options, including a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that gets over 700 hp, the Ram 1500 has a very quiet cabin. In fact, it got a perfect score regarding the truck’s cabin noise level. This shouldn’t be too surprising for Ram fans, as the Ram 1500 is well-known for having a high-quality interior.

The Ram 1500 received good marks in other areas of its cabin, including for things like its seat comfort and ride quality. Regarding the Ram’s noise levels, Consumer Reports said it’s better than many luxury cars. Drivers and passengers simply won’t hear much road or wind noise when they’re in the cabin, and the engine has a “pleasant” hum that’s still relatively quiet for those inside the truck.

Overall, the standard Ram 1500’s interior is a step above most other pickup trucks, as it has an upscale feel despite not using premium materials. It’ll come with some tech, too, as the standard Ram has a 5.0-inch touch screen display and Siri Eyes Free.

2. The 2022 Ford F-150

The popular full-size truck from Ford is another pickup truck that has a low amount of cabin noise. In fact, just like the Ram 1500, it has a perfect score in terms of its noise levels. Like any other full-size truck, Ford offers many powerful engine options on the F-150, including a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 that gets 450 hp.

Despite having access to that power, the F-150, like the Ram 1500, has interior noise levels that, according to Consumer Reports, “is quiet enough to shame some luxury cars.” There is no road noise and only some small wind noise when the truck travels at highway speeds.

That being said, unlike the Ram 1500, the Ford’s interior is still not great. The standard F-150 comes with an 8.0-inch touch screen, but the truck’s ride quality is mediocre. As such, while the F-150 is tied with the Ram 1500 in terms of noise levels, the Ford is the worse truck in other areas relating to comfort.

3. The 2022 Ram 1500 Classic

The Ram 1500 Classic is another truck with a perfect score for cabin noise levels, and just like with the Ram 1500, this shouldn’t be too surprising. This is because the Ram 1500 Classic is, as its name might imply, the same Ram model from the previous generation. As a result, many of the qualities that the Ram 1500 is known for can also be found in the Ram 1500 Classic, though there are still some significant differences.

For example, like the Ram 1500, Consumer Reports described the Ram 1500 Classic as having noise levels that made road noise “next to nonexistent.” The main difference between the two trucks comes from the Ram 1500 Classic’s lack of features, making it much cheaper. In fact, it’s currently $6,000 cheaper than the regular Ram 1500.
