The luxury crossovers with strong Q4 sales numbers

The sales figures for Q4 of 2022 are in, and it looks like a few luxury crossovers are picking up steam. GM Authority shares some of the biggest news for one of its contenders, the Cadillac XT5, which sold 8,446 units in Q4. But Cadillac isn’t the only victor on this dataset.

The Audi Q5 sold the most in the luxury crossover class, clocking 19,780 models sold in Q4. The Infiniti QX50 saw an increase in sales, with 2,557 units sold.

Rounding out a few other models within the luxury crossover space that enjoyed boosts in sales include the Acura MDX with a 7.9% jump, the Volvo XC60 with its 4.29% increase, the Genesis GV70 with a 6.83% boost, and the Infiniti QX55 with a 7.97% hike, in Q4 year-over-year comparisons.

Sales totals for these models

The top-performing Audi Q5 clocked 19,780 models sold in Q4. It enjoyed a 4.33% increase in YTD units sold from 2021 to 2022. And the Infiniti QX50 enjoyed a 16.02% increase when comparing Q4 2022 with Q4 2021.

Considering so many other luxury crossovers experienced declines, the Audi and Infiniti numbers show significant growth potential.

Cadillac has the biggest Q4 to Q4 percentage dump of them all. The popular XT5 sold 139.4% better in Q4 2022 than in Q4 2021. In terms of sales volume, the XT5 is the clear leader in this analysis.

A sign these models are growing their market shares

There’s more than one story to draw from these year-end sales numbers. And from YTD units told to Q4 comparisons, the Audi Q5, Cadillac XT5, and the Infiniti QX50 all highlight surges in sales percentages.

The other impressive angle to consider is how well these models have boosted their market shares, demonstrating momentum that could spell big wins in 2023. The Cadillac XT5, for example, gained an 8% market share over the 3% it held in 2021. The Infiniti QX50 and most others maintained their YTD market shares, making the Cadillac boost quite a big statement.

The Audi Q5 jumped the most in market share, though, boasting an even more impressive 18% of its segment. That’s 10% higher than its market share in 2021.

Based on these metrics, it’s clear that the Cadillac XT5, the Infiniti QX50, and the Audi Q5 are gaining momentum and popularity among luxury car and crossover buyers. They’ll be ideally positioned for a strong Q1 finish in 2023.

Only time will tell if they continue to maintain steam. Sales in Q4 can be tough, especially with new model releases happening during those end-of-the-year months.

If you’re in the luxury crossover market, you might want to test drive one or all of these top three and most-improved selling vehicles. And then, you can decide if you think they have what it takes to finish the 2023 sales year strong.
